138mysx’s winning team was built around flexible speed control and strong spread pressure. Charizard with Charizardite Y, Blaze, Modest, and Heat Wave, Weather Ball, Solar Beam, Protect gave the team immediate sun-based damage and coverage. That paired naturally with Aerodactyl, which carried Aerodactylite, Unnerve, Jolly, and Rock Slide, Dual Wingbeat, Tailwind, Protect. Between Tailwind and Farigiraf’s Trick Room, the team could choose which speed mode mattered in a given matchup rather than relying on only one plan.
Farigiraf was especially important structurally. Its Sitrus Berry, Armor Tail, Bold set with Thunderbolt, Psychic, Trick Room, Protect offered both Trick Room and priority disruption, giving the team room to operate around opposing Sucker Punch, Aqua Jet, Fake Out pressure, and similar lines. Kingambit also fit cleanly into that framework: Focus Sash, Defiant, Adamant, with Kowtow Cleave, Sucker Punch, Iron Head, Low Kick gave 138mysx a resilient physical attacker that could threaten late-game priority while punishing stat drops.
The remaining two slots rounded out the offense. Garchomp used Life Orb, Rough Skin, Jolly with Dragon Claw, Stomping Tantrum, Earthquake, Protect, adding Ground-type pressure and another fast attacker. Sylveon carried Fairy Feather, Pixilate, Modest with Hyper Voice, Hyper Beam, Quick Attack, Detect, giving the team Fairy-type spread damage and a priority option.
Across the top finishers, Kingambit was the clearest recurring piece, appearing on each of the top four teams. Its sets varied by item, with Focus Sash on the winner, Occa Berry on FENIX, and Black Glasses on both Connor Sparks and dea999, but Defiant and Adamant were shared across all four. Basculegion was also prominent, appearing on the second-, third-, and fourth-place teams with Adaptability and access to Wave Crash, Last Respects, and Aqua Jet.
Charizard and Garchomp were both present on the top two teams, while Froslass appeared on the third- and fourth-place teams with Froslassite. Focus Sash was another common item near the top, showing up on Kingambit, Whimsicott, and Lycanroc Dusk across the top four. Tailwind remained a major speed-control option through Aerodactyl and Whimsicott, while Trick Room appeared on Farigiraf.
Takeaway for ladder players: prepare for Kingambit endgames, Basculegion priority, and teams that can pivot between Tailwind pressure and Trick Room positioning.
