138mysx’s winning team leaned on immediate offensive pressure backed by multiple forms of tempo control. Garchomp carried Choice Scarf with Rough Skin and an Adamant nature, giving the team a fast physical attacker with Dragon Claw, Earthquake, Rock Slide, and Stomping Tantrum. That paired cleanly with Dragonite, whose Dragoninite set added Tailwind, Protect, Dragon Pulse, and Heat Wave from a Modest Multiscale build.
The team also had strong mid-game pressure from Delphox and Kingambit. Delphox used Delphoxite, Blaze, Timid, and a straightforward Heat Wave, Psychic, Nasty Plot, Protect set, giving 138mysx a special attacker that could either attack immediately or boost. Kingambit supplied Defiant, Occa Berry, and priority through Sucker Punch, alongside Kowtow Cleave, Iron Head, and Protect.
Sneasler and Basculegion rounded out the roster with disruptive and finishing tools. Sneasler’s Focus Sash set had Fake Out, Close Combat, Poison Jab, and Quick Guard, which is a compact support-offense package. Basculegion used Life Orb, Adaptability, and an Adamant nature with Wave Crash, Aqua Jet, Last Respects, and Protect, making it one of the team’s most direct damage sources and a clear late-game threat.
Across the top standings, Garchomp was the defining repeated pick. All of the top four teams used it, split between Choice Scarf Rough Skin Adamant sets on 138mysx and ABHIGOD, and Garchompite Z Rough Skin Modest special sets on Lucas Bradwell and blcde. Basculegion also appeared on both of the top two teams, though with different items: Life Orb for 138mysx and Choice Scarf for Lucas Bradwell.
Fake Out was another major top-table feature. Sneasler on the top two teams carried it or adjacent support pressure, while Incineroar appeared on places 2, 3, and 4 with Fake Out and Parting Shot. Charizard with Charizardite Y showed up in both 3rd and 4th, and again in the listed 8th-place team, reinforcing how common sun-based special pressure was near the top. Life Orb was also spread across different attackers, including Basculegion, Gholdengo, Venusaur, and other top-eight picks.
Takeaway for ladder players: prepare for Garchomp in multiple roles, and do not assume the opposing set is physical just because the species is familiar.
