Ian Tal’s first-place team paired two clear modes: Psychic Terrain pressure and sand offense. Gardevoir with Gardevoirite, Hyper Voice, Expanding Force, Calm Mind, and Protect gave the team a strong spread-damage centerpiece, especially alongside Indeedee ♀. Indeedee ♀ supplied Psychic Surge, Follow Me, Helping Hand, and Trick Room, letting the team either amplify Gardevoir and Sneasler or slow the game down when needed.
The sand half was equally direct. Tyranitar with Tyranitarite and Sand Stream enabled Excadrill’s Sand Rush, creating a classic speed-control and Rock Slide pressure package. Tyranitar also carried Knock Off and Low Kick, giving it utility into bulkier or item-reliant targets. Excadrill’s Focus Sash helped preserve its role as a fast attacker, with High Horsepower, Iron Head, Rock Slide, and Protect covering the expected offensive bases.
Volcarona and Sneasler rounded out the composition with flexible support and snowball potential. Volcarona used Rocky Helmet, Flame Body, Tailwind, Rage Powder, Fiery Dance, and Protect, so it could redirect, punish contact, and provide speed control. Sneasler with Psychic Seed and Unburden fit naturally beside Indeedee ♀, threatening with Dire Claw and Close Combat while also having Swords Dance as a setup option.
Across the top four, Incineroar was the most visible glue piece, appearing on Breno Silva’s, Eduardo_Leite’s, and jimmysley28’s teams. All three used Intimidate and Fake Out, with Sitrus Berry appearing on the Incineroar sets in second, third, and fourth. Rillaboom also showed up twice in the top four, both times with Grassy Surge and Fake Out support, reinforcing how valuable terrain control and priority pressure were in this field.
Several repeated item and role patterns stood out. Sitrus Berry appeared on Ian Tal’s Indeedee ♀ and on multiple Incineroar. Rocky Helmet appeared on Ian Tal’s Volcarona and Breno Silva’s Sinistcha, both paired with redirection tools in Rage Powder. Garchomp appeared in both third and fourth, while Volcarona appeared in first and fourth, though with different items and roles.
Takeaway for ladder players: build with a clear speed-control plan, but make sure it is supported by redirection or Fake Out so your main mode actually gets to play.
