Sunday Showdown #1 results: heisenberg81 tops 36-player field

Sunday Showdown #1 was a 36-player online event on Limitless, played in Pokemon Champions Regulation Set M-C on 2026-10-04. The final round saw heisenberg81 defeat Vere, PhilWW defeat benjaurrutiaa1810, and sam73597479 defeat No_Face, with heisenberg81 finishing first at 5-0-0.

Place Player Record Team
1 heisenberg81 [IN] 5-0-0 Staraptor, Metagross, Toxapex, Grimmsnarl, Sinistcha, Basculegion
2 PhilWW [DE] 5-0-0 Indeedee ♀, Gardevoir, Torkoal, Sneasler, Armarouge, Blastoise
3 sam73597479 [IN] 4-1-0 Farigiraf, Pelipper, Archaludon, Raichu, Volcarona, Salamence
4 JovenColo [ES] 4-1-0 Whimsicott, Houndoom, Rillaboom, Garchomp, Gardevoir, Indeedee ♀

heisenberg81’s winning team leaned into layered defensive control with several ways to extend games and turn positioning into endgame pressure. Grimmsnarl gave the team a clear structure with Light Clay, Prankster, Light Screen, Reflect, Spirit Break, and Parting Shot, supporting bulky pieces like Metagross and Toxapex. Metagross with Metagrossite, Clear Body, Cosmic Power, Body Press, Rest, and Iron Head was the most obvious setup anchor, while Toxapex brought Leftovers, Regenerator, Stockpile, Toxic, Infestation, and Recover as a long-game win condition.

The rest of the team gave that defensive core practical doubles tools. Staraptor supplied Intimidate and immediate pressure through Brave Bird and Close Combat, while still carrying Protect and Roost. Sinistcha added Sitrus Berry, Hospitality, Trick Room, Matcha Gotcha, Life Dew, and Rage Powder, giving the team redirection, healing, and speed control. Basculegion rounded the six out with Focus Sash, Adaptability, Wave Crash, Last Respects, Aqua Jet, and Protect, making it a strong closer once the bulkier pieces had traded resources.

Across the top teams, Psychic Terrain and Expanding Force were major themes. PhilWW’s runner-up team used Indeedee ♀ with Psychic Surge next to Gardevoir and Armarouge, both carrying Expanding Force. JovenColo also paired Indeedee ♀ with Gardevoir, while sam73597479 used Farigiraf with Expanding Force, Imprison, and Trick Room. Trick Room appeared on heisenberg81’s Sinistcha, PhilWW’s Indeedee ♀ and Armarouge, sam73597479’s Farigiraf, and JovenColo’s Indeedee ♀, showing that speed control was not limited to Tailwind teams.

Weather also showed up repeatedly near the top. PhilWW brought Torkoal with Drought, JovenColo had Whimsicott with Sunny Day alongside Houndoom, and sam73597479 used Pelipper with Drizzle next to Archaludon. Tailwind was present on Pelipper and Salamence for sam73597479, and on Whimsicott for JovenColo. Common item patterns included Focus Sash on Basculegion, Pelipper, and Whimsicott in the top four, Sitrus Berry on Sinistcha, Farigiraf, and Indeedee ♀, and Gardevoirite on both PhilWW’s and JovenColo’s Gardevoir.

Takeaway for ladder players: build with a concrete plan into screens, Psychic Terrain, Trick Room, and weather, because Sunday Showdown #1’s top teams consistently used at least one of those engines.
