Dominik Mellentin’s winning team was built around two major offensive pressure points: Delphox with Delphoxite and Blastoise with Blastoisinite. Delphox offered a fast special attacking route with Heat Wave and Psychic, while Nasty Plot gave it a clear snowball option in positions where the opponent could not immediately threaten it. Blastoise brought a different kind of endgame threat with Shell Smash and Water Spout, backed by Dark Pulse for coverage and Protect for positioning.
The support core made those setup and pressure turns much easier to find. Incineroar had the familiar Intimidate, Fake Out, Parting Shot package, with Sitrus Berry adding staying power. Maushold supplied Friend Guard, Follow Me, Helping Hand, Feint, and Protect, giving the team both redirection and damage amplification. Sinistcha added another redirection mode with Rage Powder while also carrying Hospitality, Life Dew, Matcha Gotcha, and Protect. That gave Dominik multiple ways to preserve board position rather than relying on one support Pokemon to do everything.
Sneasler rounded out the squad as a disruptive tempo piece. Focus Sash let it commit to turns aggressively, while Fake Out and Quick Guard were useful tools alongside Poison Jab and Close Combat. The result was a team that could alternate between proactive damage, setup pressure, redirection, and Fake Out control without abandoning its offensive plan.
Across the top cut, several patterns stood out. Sneasler appeared on both the first- and second-place teams, each with Focus Sash, Poison Touch, Close Combat, and Quick Guard. Blastoise was present on both first and third, both using Blastoisinite, Rain Dish, Modest, Water Spout, Dark Pulse, and Shell Smash. Incineroar remained a strong support pick, showing up on first and fourth with Sitrus Berry, Intimidate, Fake Out, Flare Blitz, and Parting Shot.
Weather and speed control were also prominent. Torkoal appeared on both third and fourth with Charcoal, Drought, Quiet, Eruption, Weather Ball, and Protect. Aerodactyl appeared on second and fourth with Aerodactylite, Unnerve, Jolly, Rock Slide, Ice Fang, and Tailwind. Basculegion placed second and third, both using Adaptability, Last Respects, Aqua Jet, and Protect, though with different items and Water-type attacks.
Takeaway for ladder players: this event rewarded teams that could combine setup threats with layered support, especially Fake Out, redirection, Tailwind, and Protect.
