ToniTheBest’s winning team was built around strong speed control, spread pressure, and flexible endgame pieces. Aerodactyl with Aerodactylite, Unnerve, Tailwind, Wide Guard, Rock Slide, and Dual Wingbeat gave the team immediate tempo while also protecting partners from opposing spread attacks. Charizard with Charizardite Y, Solar Power, Modest, Heat Wave, Solar Beam, Weather Ball, and Protect supplied the main special attacking pressure, especially alongside the team’s ability to keep speed or positioning advantage.
The rest of the six covered multiple modes rather than committing to one plan. Sylveon with Fairy Feather and Pixilate brought Hyper Voice and Hyper Beam damage, plus Quick Attack for priority. Farigiraf added Armor Tail utility, Sitrus Berry staying power, and Trick Room as a secondary speed mode, with Twin Beam, Thunderbolt, and Grass Knot for coverage. Garchomp used Life Orb with Protect, Stomping Tantrum, Dragon Claw, and Earthquake, giving the team a physical attacker that could punish positioning mistakes. Kingambit rounded things out with Focus Sash, Defiant, Adamant, Kowtow Cleave, Iron Head, Low Kick, and Sucker Punch, offering both pressure into Intimidate-style play and a reliable priority option.
Across the top teams, several patterns stood out. Charizard was present on the first, second, and fifth-place teams, all using Charizardite Y and carrying Heat Wave, Weather Ball, Solar Beam, and Protect. Garchomp appeared on the top two teams with Life Orb, Rough Skin, and Jolly. Kingambit was also heavily represented, appearing in first, third, fourth, and sixth, with Defiant and Adamant on each listed set.
Support choices were similarly concentrated. Incineroar appeared on the second, third, sixth, and eighth-place teams, always with Intimidate, Fake Out, and Parting Shot. Sitrus Berry was used on Farigiraf, Incineroar, Basculegion, Pelipper, and other top-cut-adjacent support or bulky Pokemon. Focus Sash appeared on ToniTheBest’s Kingambit, Dzhupito’s Venusaur, TimmyInAnAlleyway’s Lycanroc Dusk, Martinus_03’s Sneasler, dug’s Sneasler, and Julian18’s Venusaur.
Weather and field control were also major themes. Dzhupito and Julian18 both paired Charizard with Venusaur, while Alolan Ninetales showed up on SeVaunn’s and Gotou’s teams. Aurora Veil appeared on Alolan Ninetales and Froslass, and Wide Guard appeared on Aerodactyl, Toxapex, and Pelipper. Tailwind, Trick Room, Fake Out, Rage Powder, and Follow Me all showed up within the top eight, showing how central positioning tools were to the event.
Takeaway for ladder players: prepare for Charizardite Y offense, Defiant Kingambit, and layered speed control rather than only one speed mode.
