Hexonic’s winning team leaned into fast, direct pressure with multiple Protect users and several ways to convert positioning into damage. Charizard carried Charizardite Y with Heat Wave, Weather Ball, Solar Beam, and Protect, giving the team a central special attacker that could pressure both single-target and spread damage plans. Sceptile with Sceptilite added another fast special threat, using Energy Ball, Dragon Pulse, Earth Power, and Protect.
The physical side was just as important. Garchomp held Life Orb with Earthquake, Dragon Claw, Rock Slide, and Protect, giving Hexonic a strong spread option alongside reliable single-target attacks. Kingambit used Focus Sash, Defiant, and an Adamant nature with Protect, Sucker Punch, Iron Head, and Low Kick, functioning as a late-game threat and priority user. Talonflame supplied Tailwind with Sharp Beak, Gale Wings, Dual Wingbeat, Flare Blitz, and Protect, while Heat Rotom’s Choice Scarf set with Discharge, Trick, Overheat, and Volt Switch gave the team speed control disruption and pivoting.
Across the top cut of standings, the clearest trend was the Charizard, Garchomp, and Kingambit core. The top three teams all used Charizard with Charizardite Y, Garchomp with Life Orb, and Kingambit, with Focus Sash appearing on Kingambit for Hexonic, bule, and Grookeygreninja. Charizard’s listed attacks were also highly consistent: Heat Wave, Weather Ball, Solar Beam, and Protect appeared on all three top-three Charizard sets, though the order varied.
Aerodactyl was another major presence. bule and Grookeygreninja both used Aerodactylite Aerodactyl with Unnerve and Jolly, while BynNintendoGaming used Mental Herb Aerodactyl with Unnerve and Jolly. Tailwind appeared on the Aerodactyl sets from bule and Grookeygreninja, while Wide Guard appeared on Grookeygreninja’s and BynNintendoGaming’s versions.
Sylveon also showed up repeatedly in the top four. bule, Grookeygreninja, and BynNintendoGaming all brought Fairy Feather Sylveon with Pixilate, and all three included Hyper Voice and Quick Attack. Farigiraf was present on bule’s and BynNintendoGaming’s teams with Sitrus Berry and Armor Tail, both carrying Trick Room and Thunderbolt.
Takeaway for ladder players: prepare for Charizardite Y plus Life Orb Garchomp pressure, and do not ignore Focus Sash Kingambit in endgames.
