merijnvd’s winning team was built around immediate speed control and layered offensive pressure. Whimsicott carried Focus Sash with Prankster, giving the team Tailwind support alongside Encore and Charm disruption. That gave strong positioning for Charizard with Charizardite Y, which threatened spread damage through Heat Wave and also used Solar Beam and Weather Ball. Staraptor with Staraptite added Intimidate plus Brave Bird and Close Combat, giving the team another fast, direct attacker with Protect and Roost.

The back half of the team kept the pressure high. Basculegion used Choice Scarf, Adaptability, Last Respects, Flip Turn, Wave Crash, and Aqua Jet, giving merijnvd both speed and cleanup potential. Garchomp held Life Orb with Rough Skin and a Jolly nature, using Dragon Claw, Rock Slide, Earthquake, and Protect as a flexible physical attacker. Sylveon rounded the six out with Fairy Feather, Pixilate, Hyper Voice, Quick Attack, Hyper Beam, and Detect, adding consistent Fairy-type spread damage and priority.

Across the top teams, Garchomp appeared on both first and second place, and Life Orb was used on both merijnvd’s Garchomp and VortexTheGreat’s Meowscarada. Whimsicott plus Charizard appeared on both first and fourth, with Charizardite Y on both Charizard sets and Tailwind on both Whimsicott sets. Basculegion was also shared by first and fourth, and both versions used Choice Scarf, Adaptability, Last Respects, Wave Crash, Aqua Jet, and Flip Turn.

Kingambit and Sneasler were a clear feature of the second- and third-place teams. Both Kingambit sets used Black Glasses, Defiant, Kowtow Cleave, Sucker Punch, and Swords Dance. Sneasler gave both teams Fake Out and Close Combat, though Ebznax02 used White Herb with Unburden while dumina used Focus Sash with Poison Touch. Trick Room also showed up repeatedly through Armarouge on second and Sinistcha on third, with Sinistcha’s Rage Powder, Matcha Gotcha, Life Dew, and Trick Room package continuing into several lower top-eight teams as well.

Takeaway for ladder players: prepare for fast Tailwind offense, Choice Scarf Basculegion, and bulky disruption cores built around Sinistcha, Incineroar, Kingambit, and Sneasler.
