Aloy2023’s first-place team was built around a flexible rain core with Pelipper, Archaludon, and Venusaur. Pelipper carried Focus Sash, Drizzle, Weather Ball, Hurricane, Wide Guard, and Tailwind, giving the team immediate weather control, speed control, and protection against spread pressure. Archaludon used Leftovers and Stamina with Flash Cannon, Dragon Pulse, Electro Shot, and Protect, making it a durable rain abuser that could sit on the field and convert positioning into damage.
The supporting cast gave the team several game plans instead of committing fully to one mode. Garchomp with Life Orb, Rough Skin, Earthquake, Stomping Tantrum, Rock Slide, and Protect provided fast physical pressure. Grimmsnarl with Light Clay, Prankster, Light Screen, Reflect, Parting Shot, and Spirit Break made the bulkier pieces harder to remove. Venusaur with Venusaurite and Chlorophyll added a special attacker with Sludge Bomb, Giga Drain, Earth Power, and Protect. Farigiraf rounded the six out with Armor Tail, Sitrus Berry, Psychic Noise, Foul Play, Trick Room, and Protect, giving the team anti-priority utility and a slower mode when needed.
Rain was the defining trend near the top. Pelipper appeared on the teams of Aloy2023, xash117 [DE], Akash VGC [IN], and LelloCartello [IT], while Politoed appeared on Payojaim [ES]’s team. Archaludon was also prominent, showing up in five of the listed top eight teams, almost always with Leftovers and Stamina. The repeated combination of Pelipper, Archaludon, Basculegion ♀, Raichu, Golisopod, and Sneasler across xash117 [DE], Akash VGC [IN], and LelloCartello [IT] was especially notable.
Sneasler was another major piece, appearing on five of the top eight teams with several item choices, including Focus Sash, Electric Seed, and White Herb. Raichu was also common, with Raichunite X on multiple teams and Raichunite Y on PequenoRei1 [BR]’s fourth-place squad. Garchomp remained relevant across very different structures, appearing with Life Orb, Choice Scarf, and Garchompite Z.
Takeaway for ladder players: prepare for rain-backed Archaludon cores, but do not ignore flexible speed control from Tailwind, Trick Room, Fake Out, and priority denial.
