| Place | Player | Record | Team |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | aberen | 5-2-0 | Charizard / Venusaur / Archaludon / Pelipper / Grimmsnarl / Garchomp |
| 2 | RocketGrunt | 5-2-0 | Raichu / Politoed / Charizard / Archaludon / Grimmsnarl / Venusaur |
| 3 | Eduardo M | 4-2-0 | Milotic / Raichu / Ceruledge / Staraptor / Gholdengo / Rillaboom |
| 4 | Alex Zimmerman | 4-2-0 | Archaludon / Charizard / Pelipper / Venusaur / Grimmsnarl / Garchomp |
aberen’s winning team was built around flexible weather pressure and strong defensive pacing. Charizard carried Charizardite Y with Blaze and a Modest spread, using Heat Wave, Hurricane, Weather Ball, and Protect. Next to it, Venusaur gave the team a classic Chlorophyll angle with Focus Sash, Sludge Bomb, Leaf Storm, Sleep Powder, and Protect. That pairing alone forced opponents to respect both immediate spread damage and Sleep Powder pressure.
The rest of the roster made the weather plan much harder to pin down. Pelipper brought Drizzle, Sitrus Berry, Weather Ball, Tailwind, Hurricane, and Protect, giving aberen another weather setter and a speed-control option. Archaludon with Leftovers and Stamina added a bulky special attacker with Electro Shot, Snarl, Dragon Pulse, and Protect. Grimmsnarl was the team’s main support piece, using Light Clay with Prankster, Spirit Break, Reflect, Light Screen, and Parting Shot. Garchomp rounded out the team with Choice Scarf, Rough Skin, and an Adamant set of Dragon Claw, Rock Slide, Earthquake, and Bulldoze.
The most obvious trend near the top was the repeated Charizard / Venusaur / Archaludon / Grimmsnarl shell. aberen, RocketGrunt, and Alex Zimmerman all used Charizard, Venusaur, Archaludon, and Grimmsnarl, with Light Clay Grimmsnarl and Leftovers Archaludon appearing on all three teams. Charizardite Y was also central to both finalists, while Focus Sash Venusaur with Chlorophyll showed up on each of those three top-four weather teams.
There were small but important variations inside that shared structure. aberen and Alex Zimmerman both used Pelipper and Choice Scarf Garchomp, while RocketGrunt used Politoed and Raichu instead. RocketGrunt’s team also had Raichu with Raichunite X, Lightning Rod, Fake Out, Feint, Volt Tackle, and Volt Switch, adding a different support and positioning profile to the same Charizard / Venusaur / Archaludon / Grimmsnarl base.
Outside the weather core, Raichu was one of the standout repeated picks across the top eight. RocketGrunt used Raichunite X, while Eduardo M, Jonathan An, and je8 all used Raichunite Y with Lightning Rod. Garchomp also appeared in several builds, including Choice Scarf versions on aberen, Alex Zimmerman, and Edgar2115, plus different item choices from je8 and Dragonrider.
Takeaway for ladder players: the Charizard / Venusaur / Archaludon / Grimmsnarl core is the benchmark to prepare for in Regulation Set M-C.
