Kirbygambit’s winning team was built around a strong mix of immediate pressure, positioning tools, and setup threats. Life Orb Gholdengo with Good as Gold, Nasty Plot, Make It Rain, Shadow Ball, and Protect gave the team a central special attacker that could threaten both spread damage and snowball potential. Rillaboom added Grassy Surge, Fake Out, Grassy Glide, Wood Hammer, and High Horsepower, giving the team priority, terrain control, and a clear way to support the grounded partners.
The rest of the six rounded that core out with several different angles. Milotic carried Sitrus Berry, Competitive, Coil, Muddy Water, Ice Beam, and Hypnosis, giving the team a bulky option that could punish stat drops and create disruption. Raichu used Raichunite Y with Lightning Rod, Fake Out, Zap Cannon, Focus Blast, and Protect, combining redirection immunity support with fast utility. Ceruledge’s Grassy Seed set with Flash Fire, Bitter Blade, Shadow Sneak, Swords Dance, and Protect fit naturally beside Rillaboom’s terrain. Staraptor supplied Intimidate, Tailwind, Close Combat, Brave Bird, and Protect, giving the team speed control and another form of board pressure.
Across the top cut, one of the clearest trends was the Gholdengo/Rillaboom/Raichu structure. Kirbygambit, charpie [CL], Forblaze [FR], and Poter [CL] all used Gholdengo with Life Orb and Good as Gold, Rillaboom with Miracle Seed and Grassy Surge, and Raichu with Raichunite Y and Lightning Rod. That package repeatedly paired Fake Out pressure with a powerful special attacker and terrain-backed priority.
Garchomp was also heavily represented, appearing on the teams of blindfishptsd [IE], mir_merchant [US], charpie [CL], Forblaze [FR], and Sapo Q [IM]. Several of those were Garchompite Z sets with special coverage such as Dragon Pulse, Draco Meteor, Earth Power, Power Gem, or Flamethrower, while charpie [CL] used Choice Scarf with physical attacks.
Weather also had a visible presence. mir_merchant [US] and Sapo Q [IM] both brought Charizard, Pelipper, Archaludon, Venusaur, Grimmsnarl, and Garchomp, combining Charizardite Y, Drizzle Pelipper, Chlorophyll Venusaur, and screens Grimmsnarl. blindfishptsd [IE] used Torkoal with Drought, while Fr33z [DE] included Blastoise with Blastoisinite.
Takeaway for ladder players: prepare for Gholdengo/Rillaboom/Raichu cores, Garchomp variants, and teams that can switch between speed control, Fake Out, and weather pressure.
