| Place | Player | Record | Team |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | DJGamer511 [US] | 8-2-0 | Whimsicott, Charizard, Sneasler, Garchomp, Basculegion, Kingambit |
| 2 | Quiijii [US] | 9-1-0 | Tyranitar, Excadrill, Sinistcha, Milotic, Staraptor, Gholdengo |
| 3 | Colt45 [US] | 6-3-0 | Raichu, Rillaboom, Volcarona, Incineroar, Gholdengo, Garchomp |
| 4 | yagosimas [BR] | 6-3-0 | Charizard, Salamence, Kingambit, Sneasler, Basculegion, Whimsicott |
DJGamer511’s winning team is very direct, but it has several ways to control the pace of a game. Whimsicott (Focus Sash / Prankster) provides Tailwind and Encore, giving the team a reliable opening support Pokemon that can still contribute with Moonblast and protect itself with Protect. Charizard (Charizardite Y) is the main special spread attacker, carrying Heat Wave alongside Weather Ball and Solar Beam, while also keeping Protect for positioning.
The physical side is where the team puts on pressure from several angles. Sneasler (White Herb / Unburden) brings Close Combat, Dire Claw, Rock Tomb, and Protect, combining immediate damage with speed control from Rock Tomb. Garchomp (Life Orb / Rough Skin) adds Earthquake, Dragon Claw, and Rock Slide, giving the team another strong spread option. Basculegion (Mystic Water / Adaptability) gives priority with Aqua Jet while threatening heavy damage through Wave Crash and Last Respects. Kingambit rounds the team out with Chople Berry, Defiant, Kowtow Cleave, Iron Head, Sucker Punch, and Low Kick, giving the composition a sturdy late-game attacker and another priority option.
The most striking trend is that the first- and fourth-place teams share five Pokemon: Whimsicott, Charizard, Sneasler, Basculegion, and Kingambit. Even the item choices line up closely, with Focus Sash Whimsicott, Charizardite Y Charizard, White Herb Sneasler, and Chople Berry Kingambit appearing on both. The main difference is DJGamer511 using Life Orb Garchomp, while yagosimas used Salamence with Salamencite.
Quiijii and EvanReed20 both brought the Tyranitar and Excadrill pairing, with Tyranitarite on Tyranitar and Focus Sash on Excadrill. Gholdengo was another major top-cut presence, appearing on quiijii, Colt45, EvanReed20, and ehu3, each time with Life Orb and Good as Gold. Sneasler also showed up on Beta20X’s sixth-place team with White Herb / Unburden, reinforcing how common that item-ability pairing was near the top.
Across the top eight, speed control was everywhere: Tailwind on Whimsicott, Volcarona, and Altaria; Rock Tomb on Sneasler and Excadrill; Icy Wind on Milotic; and Choice Scarf Basculegion on ehu3’s team. Fake Out also appeared repeatedly on Raichu, Rillaboom, Incineroar, and Beta20X’s Sneasler.
Takeaway for ladder players: prepare for fast Tailwind offense, Life Orb Gholdengo, and White Herb Sneasler when building for Regulation Set M-C.
