laleli’s winning team was built around a clear sand core. Tyranitar carried Tyranitarite with Sand Stream and a Jolly Dragon Dance set, giving it a direct setup route alongside Rock Slide, Knock Off, and Protect. Excadrill paired with it naturally, using Focus Sash and Sand Rush to threaten with High Horsepower, Iron Head, and Rock Slide while still having Protect for positioning.
The rest of the team gave laleli multiple ways to keep that offensive plan stable. Gholdengo was a Life Orb Good as Gold attacker with Shadow Ball, Make It Rain, Nasty Plot, and Protect, adding another strong setup threat that did not rely on sand turns. Milotic used Sitrus Berry and Competitive with Scald, Ice Beam, Icy Wind, and Protect, providing speed control through Icy Wind and punishing opposing stat drops. Sinistcha brought Rocky Helmet, Hospitality, Matcha Gotcha, Strength Sap, Rage Powder, and Protect, giving the team redirection and recovery support. Staraptor rounded the six out with Staraptite, Intimidate, Close Combat, Brave Bird, Tailwind, and Protect, giving laleli both immediate pressure and an alternate speed-control option.
The top teams showed a wide spread of weather and speed structures. Sand won the event, but Charizard appeared on three of the top eight teams, all with Charizardite Y, while Pelipper appeared on three top-eight teams with Drizzle. BlueTHEGLITCH and Converse both paired Pelipper with Archaludon, and Cl2m also used both Pelipper and Archaludon, making that combination one of the clearest recurring structures in the standings.
Several support staples also repeated. Sinistcha made top four on both laleli’s and BlueTHEGLITCH’s teams, each using Hospitality and Strength Sap. Milotic appeared on laleli’s winning team and PokeMachoLives’s third-place team, both with Competitive. Incineroar appeared on teams finishing fourth, fifth, and sixth, each with Intimidate, Fake Out, Flare Blitz, and Parting Shot. Rillaboom also appeared on three top-eight teams, all with Grassy Surge and Fake Out.
Common items reinforced the same themes. Focus Sash showed up on Excadrill, Whimsicott, Pelipper, and Venusaur among the top teams, while Sitrus Berry was used by Milotic, Farigiraf, Sinistcha, Incineroar, Pelipper, and others across the top eight. Life Orb also stood out on laleli’s Gholdengo, leafbeef’s Garchomp, Akhy_LOQ28’s Gholdengo, and Oinky’s Rillaboom.
Takeaway for ladder players: bring a coherent speed plan, but make sure the team still functions when the primary mode is disrupted.
