Matcha Gotcha's Tourney (PRIVATE) recap and results

Matcha Gotcha's Tourney (PRIVATE) was a 15-player online event on Limitless, played on 2026-10-12 in Pokemon Champions Regulation Set M-C. The final round was lucasnivy vs redluc, with lucasnivy winning and finishing first at 6-0-0.

Place Player Record Team
1 [VdS] LucaSnivy [BR] 6-0-0 Eternal Flower Floette, Clefable, Primarina, Mawile, Mimikyu, Grimmsnarl
2 Redluc [BR] 4-2-0 Hydreigon, Tyranitar, Grimmsnarl, Incineroar, Kingambit, Absol
3 Whayron [BR] 3-2-0 Garchomp, Hippowdon, Steelix, Excadrill, Camerupt, Torterra
4 Pietro Evangelista [BR] 3-2-0 Froslass, Baxcalibur, Alolan Ninetales, Mamoswine, Frost Rotom, Weavile

[VdS] LucaSnivy [BR] won with a very focused Fairy-centered composition backed by strong positioning tools. Eternal Flower Floette held Floettite with Fairy Aura and ran Dazzling Gleam, Draining Kiss, Calm Mind, and Protect, giving the team a clear special attacking and setup piece. Primarina added another Calm Mind option with Sitrus Berry, Liquid Voice, Hyper Voice, Moonblast, and Protect, making spread pressure a major part of the team’s offense.

The support structure around those attackers was just as important. Clefable with Leftovers and Unaware brought Moonblast, Follow Me, Life Dew, and Protect, giving the team redirection and recovery support. Grimmsnarl used Light Clay with Prankster, Foul Play, Fake Out, Light Screen, and Reflect, providing the standard screen package plus immediate disruption. Mimikyu added Mental Herb, Disguise, Trick Room, and Protect, giving the team a speed-control option that also fit next to Mawile. Mawile with Mawilite, Huge Power, Iron Head, Sucker Punch, Play Rough, and Protect rounded out the roster as the main physical breaker and priority user.

The runner-up team from Redluc [BR] took a different route, combining Hydreigon with Choice Scarf, Tyranitar with Tyranitarite, Grimmsnarl with Light Clay, Incineroar, Kingambit, and Absol with Absolite Z. Compared to the champion’s Fairy pressure, this team leaned into Dark-type offense, Parting Shot support from Grimmsnarl and Incineroar, and multiple priority or setup threats such as Kingambit’s Swords Dance and Sucker Punch and Tyranitar’s Dragon Dance.

Across the top teams, screen support stood out. Both first and second place used Grimmsnarl with Light Clay and Prankster, while Marcos Corradi [BR] also had a Light Clay Prankster Klefki in the top eight. Weather also appeared repeatedly. Whayron [BR] finished third with a sand structure built around Hippowdon with Smooth Rock, Sand Stream, Steelix with Steelixite, and Excadrill with Focus Sash and Sand Rush. Pietro Evangelista [BR] reached fourth with snow pressure from Alolan Ninetales with Snow Warning alongside Froslass, Baxcalibur, Mamoswine, Frost Rotom, and Weavile.

There were also several repeated item and move patterns. Focus Sash appeared on Excadrill, Weavile, Dragapult, and Salazzle in the listed top eight. Choice Scarf showed up on Hydreigon, Frost Rotom, Gholdengo, and Low Key Toxtricity. Protect was widespread across nearly every high-placing roster, while Rock Slide appeared on teams using Tyranitar, Garchomp, Steelix, Excadrill, Torterra, and Sneasler.

Takeaway for ladder players: this event rewarded teams with clear damage plans, durable support such as Light Clay screens, and flexible speed control through Trick Room, Choice Scarf, weather, or priority.
