Penglin’s winning team combined fast mode pressure, redirection, weather offense, and a compact defensive backbone. Whimsicott (Mental Herb / Prankster / Timid) supplied Tailwind while also carrying Fake Tears and Tickle, giving the team ways to amplify damage from its special attackers or soften physical targets. Moonblast kept it from being passive.

The offensive core was built around Charizard (Charizardite Y / Blaze / Modest), Venusaur (Life Orb / Chlorophyll / Modest), and Gholdengo (Focus Sash / Good as Gold / Timid). Charizard brought Heat Wave, Ancient Power, Solar Beam, and Protect, while Venusaur used Sludge Bomb, Giga Drain, Earth Power, and Protect. That pairing gave Penglin a clear sun-leaning mode without needing to list a separate support weather setter beyond Charizard itself. Gholdengo added Make It Rain, Shadow Ball, Power Gem, and Protect, giving the team another high-impact spread attacker that also carried Focus Sash for reliability.

Staraptor (Staraptite / Intimidate / Careful) was an important glue pick. Brave Bird and Close Combat gave it immediate physical pressure, while Roost and Protect helped it stay on the field longer. Sinistcha (Kasib Berry / Hospitality / Bold) rounded out the team with Trick Room, Matcha Gotcha, Life Dew, and Rage Powder. That gave Penglin redirection, recovery support, and a speed-control option that could punish teams overcommitting into Tailwind dynamics.
