2 Matteo Lu [IT] 7-3-0 Sneasler / Golisopod / Pelipper / Archaludon / Basculegion ♀ / Raichu

4 Philipp Jaeger [DE] 6-3-0 Tyranitar / Excadrill / Gholdengo / Milotic / Sinistcha / Staraptor

Davide Iurato’s winning team is built around layered setup, Fake Out pressure, and strong positioning tools. Volcarona used Grassy Seed with Flame Body and a Modest nature, carrying Fiery Dance, Struggle Bug, Quiver Dance, and Protect. Alongside Primarina with Leftovers, Liquid Voice, Hyper Voice, Moonblast, Calm Mind, and Protect, the team had two clear special attackers that could improve their board position over time rather than relying only on immediate damage.

The supporting cast gave that core room to operate. Incineroar brought Sitrus Berry, Intimidate, Fake Out, and Parting Shot, while Rillaboom added Grassy Surge, Life Orb, Wood Hammer, Grassy Glide, High Horsepower, and another Fake Out. Raichu with Raichunite Y, Lightning Rod, Fake Out, Zap Cannon, Focus Blast, and Protect gave the team a third Fake Out user and electric redirection. Garchomp was an unusual special variant here, using Garchompite Z with Dragon Pulse, Earth Power, Power Gem, and Protect. Together, the six covered both gradual setup plans and immediate tempo turns through Fake Out, Parting Shot, priority Grassy Glide, and multiple Protect users.

The runner-up team from Matteo Lu was a very different structure, combining Pelipper’s Drizzle and Damp Rock with Archaludon’s Leftovers, Stamina, Electro Shot, Dragon Pulse, Snarl, and Protect. Basculegion ♀ with Focus Sash and Swift Swim gave the rain mode another attacker, while Sneasler used Electric Seed and Unburden. That same Pelipper / Archaludon / Basculegion ♀ / Raichu / Golisopod / Sneasler shell also appeared in 8th with Simone Ciculo, showing the archetype had more than one strong finish.

Across the top teams, Fake Out was one of the clearest trends. The winning team had it on Raichu, Incineroar, and Rillaboom, while Matteo Lu also used Fake Out on Sneasler and Raichu. Incineroar appeared on multiple listed teams with Sitrus Berry sets, and Raichu showed up with both Raichunite Y and Raichunite X. Sneasler was another repeated pick, appearing on the 2nd, 3rd, 5th, and 8th place teams with Electric Seed, White Herb, and Focus Sash variants. Basculegion also had several different roles, including Focus Sash Swift Swim, Mystic Water Adaptability, and Choice Scarf Adaptability.

Items were similarly concentrated around flexible defensive and tempo options. Focus Sash appeared on Basculegion ♀, Whimsicott, Sneasler, Excadrill, and Venusaur among the listed teams. Life Orb showed up on Rillaboom, Garchomp, Gholdengo, Kingambit, and Rhyperior. Leftovers was used on Primarina, Archaludon, and Volcarona, supporting the slower setup plans that performed well near the top.

Takeaway for ladder players: bring a plan for repeated Fake Out pressure, because the best teams here used it to enable setup, weather, and positioning.
