Metal's Meteor Mash-Up #5 results: Treecko25 wins Regulation Set M-C

Place Player Record Team
1 Treecko25 [US] 8-0-0 Gengar / Rillaboom / Incineroar / Politoed / Archaludon / Swampert
2 MetalLegsSolid [CA] 6-2-0 Raichu / Golisopod / Archaludon / Pelipper / Basculegion ♀ / Sneasler
3 Ruby zzz 5-2-0 Raichu / Farigiraf / Incineroar / Primarina / Rillaboom / Camerupt
4 BKyank86 [US] 5-2-0 Raichu / Charizard / Sneasler / Garchomp / Farigiraf / Whimsicott

Treecko25’s winning team combined rain, trapping, and heavy positional control. Gengar with Gengarite, Shadow Tag, Perish Song, and Protect gave the team a clear endgame plan, especially alongside Politoed’s own Perish Song and Encore. That double Perish Song structure meant opponents had to respect both board control and timer pressure.

The rain mode was just as important. Politoed supplied Drizzle, while Swampert used Swampertite with Swift Swim and Wave Crash / High Horsepower to threaten immediate damage. Archaludon fit naturally next to rain with Leftovers, Stamina, Electro Shot, Dragon Pulse, Aura Sphere, and Protect, giving Treecko25 a durable special attacker that could benefit from the weather without needing to commit the Mega slot. Rillaboom and Incineroar rounded out the team with Fake Out, U-turn, Parting Shot, Intimidate, and Protect, giving the composition repeated ways to reset positioning around its trap and rain pieces.

Across the top teams, Raichu was the most visible repeated pick, appearing on MetalLegsSolid, Ruby zzz, and BKyank86. Both Raichunite X and Raichunite Y showed up, with Lightning Rod and Fake Out or Protect combinations giving teams speed-control-adjacent utility and Electric pressure. Archaludon also appeared on both first and second place, each with Leftovers, Stamina, Electro Shot, Dragon Pulse, and Protect.

Fake Out was another major trend. Treecko25 had it on Rillaboom and Incineroar, MetalLegsSolid used it on Raichu, Ruby zzz had it on Incineroar and Rillaboom, and BKyank86 carried it on Raichu and Sneasler. Weather was also prominent: Treecko25 used Politoed rain, MetalLegsSolid used Pelipper rain with Basculegion ♀ and Archaludon, and BKyank86 used Charizard with Charizardite Y plus Whimsicott’s Sunny Day.

Takeaway for ladder players: bring flexible Fake Out positioning and a concrete plan into both rain cores and Raichu-based support structures.
