MetaVGC Arena #1 - Reg MC results: Gus_0Z wins 70-player event

MetaVGC Arena #1 - Reg MC - Prizes: R$ 50 + Shiny was played on Limitless on 2026-10-17, drawing 70 players for Pokemon Champions Regulation Set M-C. Gus_0Z [BR] finished first at 9-1-0 and won the final round match over rr12rr12 [BR].

Place Player Record Team
1 Gus_0Z [BR] 9-1-0 Charizard, Pelipper, Archaludon, Venusaur, Grimmsnarl, Garchomp
2 rr12rr12 [BR] 8-2-0 Pelipper, Swampert, Hisuian Typhlosion, Wash Rotom, Kommo-o, Metagross
3 Pacs [BR] 6-3-0 Golisopod, Indeedee ♀, Hisuian Zoroark, Armarouge, Primarina, Sneasler
4 aerxdri [BR] 6-3-0 Eternal Flower Floette, Delphox, Sneasler, Sinistcha, Kingambit, Incineroar

Gus_0Z’s winning team was built around layered speed, weather pressure, and defensive support. Pelipper supplied Drizzle, Tailwind, Hurricane, Weather Ball, and Protect, giving the team a direct way to play fast while also enabling weather-based damage. Charizard carried Charizardite Y with Solar Power and a Modest set of Weather Ball, Heat Wave, Hurricane, and Protect, making it a flexible special attacker rather than a single-mode pick.

The support structure was just as important. Grimmsnarl used Light Clay with Prankster, Reflect, Light Screen, Spirit Break, and Parting Shot, giving Gus_0Z multiple ways to reduce incoming damage and reposition. Archaludon added a bulky win-condition profile with Leftovers, Stamina, Protect, Electro Shot, Dragon Pulse, and Snarl. Venusaur’s Focus Sash, Chlorophyll, Sleep Powder, Sludge Bomb, Leaf Storm, and Protect gave the team disruption plus immediate Grass-type pressure. Garchomp rounded out the composition with Garchompite Z, Rough Skin, Modest, Draco Meteor, Earth Power, Power Gem, and Protect, adding a special attacking angle that avoided being redundant with the rest of the offense.

The runner-up also leaned heavily into weather. rr12rr12 used Pelipper with Focus Sash, Drizzle, Hurricane, Weather Ball, Wide Guard, and Tailwind next to Swampert with Swampertite, Wave Crash, Earthquake, Protect, and Ice Punch. That made the final a clear showcase for Pelipper’s value in Regulation Set M-C, with both finalists using Drizzle, Weather Ball, and Tailwind.

Across the top teams, several trends stood out. Pelipper appeared on both first and second place teams, while rain-adjacent structures also showed up with Politoed on NoctivVGC’s seventh-place team. Sneasler was common near the top, appearing on Pacs, aerxdri, and Resu with different items: Psychic Seed, Focus Sash, and Focus Sash. Incineroar remained a reliable support pick in the upper standings, appearing on aerxdri, Resu, Light7, and NoctivVGC with Intimidate and Parting Shot sets. Rillaboom also showed up repeatedly from fifth through eighth, giving several teams Fake Out and Grassy Surge pressure.

Items were concentrated around a few proven options. Focus Sash appeared on Venusaur, Pelipper, Hisuian Zoroark, Sneasler, and Infernape. Sitrus Berry was used by Pelipper, Wash Rotom, Incineroar, and Politoed. Life Orb appeared on Kommo-o, Armarouge, Kingambit, Rillaboom, and Gholdengo, showing how many teams prioritized immediate damage from their non-ite attackers.

Takeaway for ladder players: prepare for Pelipper teams, Sneasler pressure, and bulky support cores built around screens, Parting Shot, and Fake Out.
