Beedrillvgc’s winning team was built around a compact mix of setup pressure, redirection, pivoting, and Fake Out. Gholdengo was the main immediate and scaling special threat, using Life Orb, Good as Gold, Nasty Plot, Make It Rain, and Shadow Ball. With Protect included, it could either demand respect early or convert a free turn into a boosted position.
Volcarona gave the team a major support layer. Rocky Helmet and Flame Body made contact into it awkward, while Rage Powder, Tailwind, Struggle Bug, and Overheat let it redirect, manage speed, and reduce opposing special damage. That support was especially relevant next to Gholdengo and Garchomp, both of which carried Protect and strong special attacks.
The Garchomp set was notable: Garchompite Z, Rough Skin, Modest, with Dragon Pulse, Earth Power, Power Gem, and Protect. Rather than the more direct physical approach shown by eb3n’s Focus Sash Garchomp, Beedrillvgc used a special attacking version that fit cleanly beside the team’s broader special pressure.
The last three slots supplied positioning tools. Incineroar brought Sitrus Berry, Intimidate, Fake Out, Parting Shot, Flare Blitz, and Darkest Lariat. Rillaboom added Miracle Seed, Grassy Surge, Grassy Glide, Wood Hammer, Fake Out, and U-turn. Raichu rounded it out with Raichunite Y, Lightning Rod, Fake Out, Protect, Zap Cannon, and Focus Blast. Between Incineroar, Rillaboom, and Raichu, Beedrillvgc had three Fake Out users and multiple ways to reset board states.
The clearest trend at the top was the success of the Beedrillvgc/Yisus5 six. Both players used Raichu, Garchomp, Volcarona, Gholdengo, Rillaboom, and Incineroar, with highly similar items and moves across the team. Raichu was especially prominent, appearing on the teams of Beedrillvgc, eb3n, Yisus5, and akatora_13, with Raichunite Y on three of those four and Raichunite X on eb3n’s team.
Garchomp also appeared on each of the top three teams, though with different roles: Beedrillvgc and Yisus5 used Garchompite Z special sets, while eb3n used Focus Sash with Stomping Tantrum, Dragon Rush, Rock Slide, and Protect. Incineroar and Rillaboom remained common glue picks, appearing together on Beedrillvgc, Yisus5, and akatora_13, and both also showed up elsewhere in the top 8.
Takeaway for ladder players: teams that combine Fake Out pressure, flexible speed control, and protected setup turns are well positioned in Regulation Set M-C.
