nar9le’s winning team was a clean Charizard-centered build with multiple direct pressure modes. Charizard used Charizardite Y with Blaze, Modest, and Weather Ball, Heat Wave, Solar Beam, Protect, giving the team immediate spread damage and strong coverage. Whimsicott supplied the speed control with Focus Sash, Prankster, Tailwind, Encore, Moonblast, and Protect, making it the obvious enabler for both fast offense and midgame disruption.
The rest of the six gave nar9le strong physical endgame options. Basculegion was Choice Scarf Adaptability with Wave Crash, Flip Turn, Aqua Jet, and Last Respects, offering speed and late-game damage. Kingambit carried Chople Berry with Defiant and the standard attacking mix of Kowtow Cleave, Sucker Punch, Iron Head, and Low Kick, giving the team priority and punishment into stat drops. Garchomp added Life Orb Rough Skin pressure with Earthquake, Dragon Claw, Rock Slide, and Protect. Eternal Flower Floette rounded out the composition with Floettite, Flower Veil, and Modest attacks in Light of Ruin, Moonblast, Dazzling Gleam, and Protect.
The most notable trend was how closely the top two mirrored each other. nar9le and manuel9519 used the same six Pokemon: Charizard, Whimsicott, Eternal Flower Floette, Garchomp, Basculegion, and Kingambit. They also shared several exact structural pieces, including Charizardite Y Charizard, Focus Sash Prankster Whimsicott, Floettite Eternal Flower Floette, Life Orb Garchomp, and Chople Berry Kingambit. The main Basculegion difference was item and nature: nar9le used Choice Scarf Jolly, while manuel9519 used Colbur Berry Adamant with Protect.
Outside that mirror, the top 4 showed very different approaches. Evan M’s third-place team combined Dragonite, Raichu, Incineroar, Rillaboom, Primarina, and Gholdengo, with Fake Out appearing on both Raichu and Rillaboom while Incineroar also carried Fake Out and Parting Shot. Tricki’s fourth-place team leaned into a separate special-leaning shell with Meganium, Volcarona, Indeedee ♀, Glimmora, Alolan Ninetales, and Lucario.
Across the broader top 8, Focus Sash appeared repeatedly on Whimsicott, Glimmora, Sneasler, and Vivillon. Rillaboom with Miracle Seed and Grassy Surge showed up on Evan M, BerceoX, AdvaiLuffy, and Gzeta. Incineroar with Sitrus Berry also appeared multiple times, while Basculegion, Garchomp, Gholdengo, Sneasler, Volcarona, and Raichu all had multiple top-8 placements in different shells.
Takeaway for ladder players: Tailwind offense with Charizardite Y, Whimsicott, and strong priority or endgame attackers was the clearest winning direction from this event.
