Zaphkiel03’s winning team was built around immediate pressure with several clean speed-control and positioning tools. Whimsicott held Focus Sash with Prankster and carried Tailwind, Encore, Moonblast, and Protect, giving the team a direct way to set tempo while also punishing slower or passive turns. From there, Garchomp with Life Orb and Rough Skin applied spread damage through Earthquake and Rock Slide, while Dragon Claw and Protect kept its options flexible.
Charizard with Charizardite Y was the team’s main special spread attacker, using Heat Wave alongside Solar Beam, Ancient Power, and Protect. Eternal Flower Floette with Floettite added another special attacking angle through Dazzling Gleam, Moonblast, and Light of Ruin, while still carrying Protect. The physical endgame was covered by Kingambit and Basculegion: Kingambit used Chople Berry, Defiant, Sucker Punch, Iron Head, Low Kick, and Kowtow Cleave, while Choice Scarf Basculegion brought Adaptability-boosted Wave Crash, Last Respects, Aqua Jet, and Flip Turn. That mix gave the team fast pressure, priority, spread damage, and multiple late-game routes without relying on only one attacker.
Across the top standings, Charizardite Y was one of the clearest high-placing Mega choices. Charizard appeared on the winning team, eckzillaz’s fourth-place team, Rafax Nazario’s fifth-place team, and chuigarza’s sixth-place team, all with Charizardite Y and Blaze. Heat Wave and Protect were common across those Charizard sets, with Solar Beam also appearing on the first- and fourth-place versions.
Sand also performed well near the top. Alberto M and Sedrav97 both used Tyranitar plus Excadrill, with Excadrill holding Focus Sash, Sand Rush, High Horsepower, Iron Head, Rock Slide, and Protect on both teams. Sedrav97 paired Tyranitarite Tyranitar with Excadrill, while Alberto M used Choice Scarf Tyranitar and the same core alongside Delphox, Staraptor, Sinistcha, and Empoleon.
Sinistcha was another major recurring support pick, appearing on five of the top eight teams. The item varied between Occa Berry and Colbur Berry, but Hospitality, Matcha Gotcha, Rage Powder, and defensive utility showed up repeatedly. Focus Sash was also widely represented, including Whimsicott, Excadrill, Kingambit, Venusaur, Sneasler, and others across the top eight.
Takeaway for ladder players: prepare for fast Tailwind offense, Charizardite Y pressure, and Sinistcha-backed positioning, because all three showed strong results here.
