Wesley’s winning team combined a clear rain engine with disruptive endgame tools. Pelipper brought Drizzle, Tailwind, and Focus Sash reliability, supporting both Swampert with Swampertite and Archaludon with Leftovers, Stamina, and Electro Shot. That gives the team a strong weather-based damage plan without relying on only one attacker: Swampert pressures with Wave Crash, Earthquake, and Ice Punch, while Archaludon offers Electro Shot, Flash Cannon, and Dragon Pulse behind Protect.
The other half of the composition is built around positioning. Gengar with Gengarite, Cursed Body, Timid, Shadow Ball, Disable, Perish Song, and Protect gives Wesley a Perish Song angle that can punish passive boards or force awkward switches. Incineroar supplies Fake Out, Intimidate, Parting Shot, and Protect, while Sinistcha adds Hospitality, Rage Powder, Life Dew, and Matcha Gotcha. Together, Incineroar and Sinistcha make it easier for the rain attackers to stay on the field and also give Gengar more room to execute Disable or Perish Song sequences.
The top cut of the standings showed several repeated structural ideas. Gengar appeared on both undefeated teams, each holding Gengarite and using Cursed Body with Perish Song, Disable, Shadow Ball, and Protect in some order. Incineroar was present on the top three teams, with Fake Out and Parting Shot appearing on all three sets. Sinistcha was also on the top three teams, always with Hospitality and Matcha Gotcha, and usually with Rage Powder plus either Life Dew or Trick Room.
Weather was another major theme. Wesley used Pelipper with Drizzle, while Sidik used Politoed with Drizzle, Encore, Weather Ball, Protect, and Perish Song. Devyn Miller’s fifth-place team also paired Pelipper with Archaludon, mirroring the rain plus Electro Shot direction seen on the winning list. Sun was represented by Felipe’s fourth-place Charizard with Charizardite Y alongside Venusaur with Venusaurite, while Patricio Arellano used Charizard with Charizardite X in sixth.
Sneasler was the most common fast pressure piece outside the top two, appearing on the third-, fourth-, sixth-, and eighth-place teams. Focus Sash was also widely used, including on Pelipper, Sneasler, Vivillon, and Noivern across the standings.
Takeaway for ladder players: prepare for Gengar Perish Song teams backed by Incineroar and Sinistcha, and respect rain cores built around Drizzle plus Archaludon.
