VGC UmbreNews 03.11.2026 #38 - Champion was a 39-player online event on Limitless, played in Pokemon Champions Regulation Set M-C on 2026-11-03. Aus29 [MY] took the tournament at 7-2-0, winning the final-round sequence over skyjordan1, stjopa, and naovi.
| Place | Player | Record | Team |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Aus29 [MY] | 7-2-0 | Charizard, Froslass, Garchomp, Whimsicott, Sneasler, Kingambit |
| 2 | Stjopa [DE] | 6-3-0 | Tyranitar, Staraptor, Gholdengo, Excadrill, Milotic, Whimsicott |
| 3 | Naovi [ES] | 5-3-0 | Whimsicott, Kingambit, Sneasler, Froslass, Raichu, Garchomp |
| 4 | Jhinting [DE] | 5-3-0 | Charizard, Incineroar, Garchomp, Venusaur, Sylveon, Pawmot |
Aus29’s winning team was built around flexible pressure and multiple speed-control angles. Charizard held Charizardite Y with Heat Wave, Solar Beam, Weather Ball, and Protect, giving the team a central special attacker with spread damage and coverage. Froslass added a second Mega option with Froslassite, Blizzard, Shadow Ball, Haze, and Protect, giving Aus29 a way to threaten damage while also carrying Haze for stat-reset utility.
The support structure was direct and efficient. Whimsicott used Focus Sash with Prankster, Tailwind, Encore, Endeavor, Moonblast, making it the team’s clearest tempo piece. Tailwind lets the offensive core move first, while Encore can punish defensive or setup turns. Garchomp carried Life Orb with Dragon Claw, Earthquake, Rock Tomb, and Protect, adding both damage and another form of speed manipulation through Rock Tomb. Sneasler brought White Herb, Unburden, Close Combat, Dire Claw, Fake Out, and Protect, giving the team Fake Out pressure alongside fast physical offense. Kingambit rounded out the six with Black Glasses, Defiant, Kowtow Cleave, Sucker Punch, Swords Dance, and Protect, offering priority and a late-game setup threat.
Across the top teams, several Pokemon stood out as repeated picks. Whimsicott appeared on each of the top three teams, and also showed up on DaveL3’s fifth-place team and SkyJordan1’s seventh-place team. Garchomp was similarly prominent, appearing on Aus29, Naovi, Jhinting, DaveL3, and Abnaa. Kingambit was used by Aus29, Naovi, DaveL3, and Abnaa, while Sneasler appeared on Aus29, Naovi, DaveL3, and SkyJordan1.
Charizard was another major presence, appearing on the teams of Aus29, Jhinting, DaveL3, and Abnaa, all with Charizardite Y. The Charizard teams commonly paired it with fast offensive partners such as Garchomp or Sneasler, or with Tailwind support from Whimsicott or Aerodactyl. Froslassite Froslass also appeared on both Aus29’s and Naovi’s top-three teams, though their sets differed: Aus29 used Snow Cloak with Haze, while Naovi used Cursed Body with Aurora Veil.
Item trends were straightforward. Focus Sash was common on support or fast utility Pokemon, including Whimsicott, Excadrill, Pawmot, Kleavor, and Kingambit. Life Orb appeared on Garchomp, Gholdengo, Venusaur, Rillaboom, Indeedee, and Kingambit, reinforcing how many top teams leaned into immediate damage. White Herb Sneasler was used by both Aus29 and Naovi, while DaveL3 also used White Herb Sneasler just outside the top four.
Takeaway for ladder players: prepare for Whimsicott speed control, Garchomp pressure, and Kingambit endgames when building for Regulation Set M-C.
