Metal's Meteor Mash-Up #3 recap and results

Metal's Meteor Mash-Up #3 - TOP 4 IN DISCORD HOF was a 24-player online event on Limitless, played in Pokemon Champions Regulation Set M-C on 2026-10-09. Vinnamon [SV] finished first at 6-2-0, winning final-round matches over soulvgc and Robin_VGC, while Robin_VGC reached the deciding set after defeating yagosimas.

Place Player Record Team
1 Vinnamon [SV] 6-2-0 Farigiraf, Rillaboom, Camerupt, Kingambit, Araquanid, Altaria
2 Robin_VGC 5-3-0 Charizard, Pelipper, Archaludon, Venusaur, Grimmsnarl, Garchomp
3 MarvVGC [DE] 5-2-0 Gengar, Rillaboom, Golisopod, Incineroar, Archaludon, Politoed
4 MetalLegsSolid [CA] 5-2-0 Rillaboom, Gholdengo, Sneasler, Eternal Flower Floette, Hisuian Arcanine, Raichu

Vinnamon’s winning team was built around a clear speed-control split. Farigiraf with Grassy Seed, Armor Tail, Quiet nature, and Trick Room gave the team a strong slow-mode enabler, while also bringing Psychic Noise, Protect, and Helping Hand. That support paired naturally with Camerupt holding Cameruptite, using Earth Power and Heat Wave as spread and single-target pressure under Trick Room.

Rillaboom was the immediate tempo piece, carrying Life Orb with Grassy Surge and a direct attacking set of Grassy Glide, Fake Out, Wood Hammer, and High Horsepower. Kingambit added Focus Sash-backed priority and anti-positioning pressure through Defiant, Kowtow Cleave, Sucker Punch, Iron Head, and Low Kick. Araquanid gave the team a second slow attacker with Mystic Water, Water Bubble, Liquidation, and Leech Life, while Wide Guard helped protect against spread damage. Altaria rounded out the six with Altarianite, Cloud Nine, Hyper Voice, Draco Meteor, Protect, and Will-O-Wisp, giving Vinnamon another Mega option and a way to disrupt physical attackers.

Across the top teams, Rillaboom was the most obvious shared piece. It appeared on the champion’s team, MarvVGC’s third-place team, and MetalLegsSolid’s fourth-place team, with yagosimas, SoulVGC, Shava, and JareMase also using it in the top eight. Fake Out plus Grassy Glide was common on these Rillaboom sets, though item choices varied between Life Orb, Miracle Seed, and Occa Berry.

Archaludon also stood out among the high finishers. Robin_VGC, MarvVGC, and yagosimas all used Leftovers Archaludon with Stamina and Electro Shot, supported by rain from Pelipper or Politoed. Drizzle teams had a strong presence overall, with Robin_VGC using Pelipper and MarvVGC using Politoed, while yagosimas also combined Pelipper with Archaludon.

Support items and defensive tools were everywhere in the top cut. Focus Sash appeared on Kingambit, Venusaur, Hisuian Arcanine, Pelipper, Excadrill, and Vivillon across the listed teams. Sitrus Berry showed up on Pelipper, Politoed, Sinistcha, Incineroar, and others. Grimmsnarl with Light Clay screens placed second on Robin_VGC and fifth on yagosimas, showing that Reflect and Light Screen remained valuable into this field.

Takeaway for ladder players: prepare for Rillaboom-based Fake Out pressure, rain-backed Archaludon, and Trick Room modes that can convert one protected turn into immediate damage.
