FlorTour Vol. 72 - Champions VGC was a 12-player online event on Limitless, played in Pokemon Champions Regulation Set M-C. The final round slate featured animeredneck vs rpr1020, teisonvgc vs animeredneck, and rpr1020 vs tjconey12, with rpr1020 winning both listed matches to finish first at 5-1-0.

rpr1020’s winning team was built around several overlapping modes rather than a single linear plan. Golisopod held Golisopite with Emergency Exit and an Adamant nature, carrying Leech Life, Swords Dance, Iron Head, and Sucker Punch. That gave the team a physical setup threat with priority pressure. Farigiraf supplied Armor Tail, Trick Room, Helping Hand, and Protect, allowing the team to play slower positions while also blocking opposing priority through Armor Tail.

The rain section was clear: Pelipper used Drizzle with Sitrus Berry, Protect, Weather Ball, Hurricane, and Wide Guard, while Archaludon paired Leftovers and Stamina with Protect, Electro Shot, Snarl, and Dragon Pulse. That combination gave rpr1020 weather control, a strong Electro Shot user, and Wide Guard utility. Rillaboom added Grassy Surge, Fake Out, Grassy Glide, Wood Hammer, and High Horsepower with Life Orb, giving the team terrain control and immediate physical damage. Raichu rounded out the six with Raichunite Y, Lightning Rod, Fake Out, Zap Cannon, Focus Blast, and Protect, adding another Fake Out user and Electric redirection.

The most notable trend near the top was the repeated Golisopod-Rillaboom-Farigiraf structure. rpr1020, Tjconey12, and Buttery all used Golisopod with Golisopite and Emergency Exit, Rillaboom with Grassy Surge, and Farigiraf with Armor Tail and Trick Room. Rillaboom appeared across much of the upper standings, including rpr1020, TeisonVGC, Tjconey12, Buttery, and AzunKurone, with Grassy Glide, Wood Hammer, and Fake Out showing up repeatedly.

Rain also had a strong presence in the top 4. Both rpr1020 and Tjconey12 used Pelipper with Sitrus Berry and Drizzle alongside Archaludon with Leftovers, Stamina, and Electro Shot. Tjconey12’s version also included Swampert with Swampertite, giving that build a different Mega option from rpr1020’s Raichu.

Another cluster came from Salamence and Gholdengo. AnimeRedneck and TeisonVGC both used Salamencite Salamence with Tailwind and Hyper Voice, and both also brought Life Orb Gholdengo with Good as Gold, Make It Rain, Shadow Ball, and Protect. Psychic-focused teams were present as well, with AnimeRedneck using Gardevoir, Indeedee, and Sneasler, while AzunKurone also used Gardevoir and Indeedee ♀.

Takeaway for ladder players: prepare for flexible Grassy Surge teams that can pivot between Fake Out pressure, Trick Room, rain, and Mega attackers.
