TadPhantom’s winning team was built around a strong mix of Mega pressure, disruption, and multiple late-game options. Metagross with Metagrossite, Clear Body, and an Adamant nature gave the team a direct physical attacker with Psychic Fangs, Iron Head, Stomping Tantrum, and Protect. It was supported by Sneasler, which brought Focus Sash, Unburden, Fake Out, Dire Claw, Close Combat, and Coaching, giving the team immediate tempo tools as well as a way to boost a partner.
The support core was especially important. Sinistcha carried Sitrus Berry with Hospitality and had Matcha Gotcha, Rage Powder, Trick Room, and Protect, letting TadPhantom redirect attacks, recover positioning, and threaten an alternate speed mode. Ceruledge added a durable setup angle with Leftovers, Flash Fire, Bulk Up, Bitter Blade, Shadow Sneak, and Protect. Eternal Flower Floette with Floettite, Flower Veil, Moonblast, Dazzling Gleam, Calm Mind, and Protect provided another Calm Mind win condition. Hydreigon rounded out the six with Choice Scarf, Levitate, Draco Meteor, Dark Pulse, Snarl, and Earth Power, giving the team fast special pressure and a way to reduce opposing special damage with Snarl.
Across the top teams, several patterns stood out. Sneasler appeared on both the champion’s team and MLGHamza’s fourth-place team, with both sets using Unburden, Dire Claw, Close Combat, and Fake Out. Basculegion was also present on NobdyspecialVGC’s runner-up team and MLGHamza’s fourth-place team, both using Adaptability with Wave Crash, Last Respects, Aqua Jet, and Protect.
Mawile with Mawilite was another repeated Mega choice in the top four, appearing on the second- and fourth-place teams. Charizard with Charizardite Y appeared on both NobdyspecialVGC’s and Youseebeeoh’s teams, each using Heat Wave, Weather Ball, Solar Beam, and Protect. Farigiraf showed up twice as well, both times with Armor Tail, Trick Room, and Helping Hand, while Aerodactylite Aerodactyl appeared on the third- and fourth-place teams with Rock Slide, Protect, and Tailwind.
The item trends were also clear: Focus Sash appeared on Sneasler, Whimsicott, and Alolan Ninetales among the top four, while Sitrus Berry showed up on Sinistcha, Basculegion, and Farigiraf. Tailwind and Trick Room both saw top-four usage, suggesting that successful teams were not relying on a single speed plan.
Takeaway for ladder players: build with both immediate pressure and a backup speed mode, because the top teams here consistently paired strong Mega attackers with Fake Out, Tailwind, Trick Room, or redirection.
