SecondStoryVGC’s winning team was built around a clear sand mode with Tyranitar and Excadrill. Tyranitar carried Choice Scarf with Sand Stream, giving the team immediate speed pressure and access to Rock Slide, Ice Punch, Knock Off, and Low Kick. Excadrill used Focus Sash, Sand Rush, and an Adamant nature, making it the primary sand attacker with Rock Slide, High Horsepower, Iron Head, and Protect.
The support structure around that core was just as important. Sinistcha offered Hospitality, Rage Powder, Life Dew, Matcha Gotcha, and Protect, giving the team redirection and recovery while holding Colbur Berry. Incineroar supplied Intimidate, Fake Out, Parting Shot, Flare Blitz, and Darkest Lariat with Passho Berry, adding classic positioning tools. Metagross with Metagrossite and Tough Claws took a more unusual route with Cosmic Power, Body Press, Psychic Fangs, and Protect, giving the team a bulky setup angle rather than only fast sand offense. Dragonite rounded the team out with Dragoninite, Multiscale, Tailwind, Heat Wave, Dragon Pulse, and Protect, adding speed control and special coverage.
Across the top four, several trends stood out. Excadrill plus Tyranitar appeared on both SecondStoryVGC’s first-place team and Magnetman’s fourth-place team, though Magnetman used Tyranitarite instead of Choice Scarf. Dragonite was present on the top two teams, both with Dragoninite, Multiscale, a Modest nature, Dragon Pulse, Heat Wave, and Tailwind.
