ColonelSquid’s winning team was built around layered speed, weather pressure, and defensive positioning. Pelipper provided Drizzle, Tailwind, Weather Ball, Hurricane, and Wide Guard, giving the team both speed control and protection against spread damage. That paired naturally with Archaludon, which used Leftovers, Stamina, Protect, Dragon Pulse, Flash Cannon, and Electro Shot as a durable midgame piece.
The offensive side was split across several angles. Basculegion held Choice Scarf with Adaptability and carried Wave Crash, Last Respects, Aqua Jet, and Flip Turn, giving ColonelSquid immediate speed and a pivot option. Venusaur used Focus Sash and Chlorophyll with Sludge Bomb, Earth Power, Sleep Powder, and Protect, making it both an attacker and disruption option. Charizard with Charizardite Y added Heat Wave, Solar Beam, Weather Ball, and Protect. Grimmsnarl rounded out the six with Light Clay, Prankster, Spirit Break, Reflect, Light Screen, and Parting Shot, giving the team a clear plan for extending games while its attackers traded efficiently.
The runner-up team from TheChoiceoffreedom shared a notable structure with the winner: Pelipper, Archaludon, and Grimmsnarl all appeared again, with the same key items on those three slots: Sitrus Berry Pelipper, Leftovers Archaludon, and Light Clay Grimmsnarl. That version added Sneasler with Focus Sash, Swampert with Swampertite, and Sinistcha with Coba Berry, showing a different way to support the same Pelipper plus Archaludon backbone.
Sun-oriented Charizard teams were also prominent just below the top. LelloCartello, MinhDuc, ThomasVgc, and Tantomisso all used Charizard with Charizardite Y, and each paired it with Venusaur or another strong offensive partner. Venusaur appeared on the champion’s team and again on LelloCartello, ThomasVgc, and Tantomisso, usually with Chlorophyll and special attacking coverage such as Sludge Bomb and Earth Power.
Another major trend was the Toxapex package. LelloCartello, MinhDuc, ThomasVgc, FreemanGordon, and Tantomisso all brought Toxapex with Leftovers and Regenerator, repeatedly using combinations of Infestation, Toxic, Wide Guard, and Baneful Bunker. Incineroar was also common among the Charizard builds, generally carrying Fake Out, Flare Blitz, Parting Shot, and a Dark-type attack.
Takeaway for ladder players: prepare for Pelipper plus Archaludon structures, Charizardite Y plus Venusaur pressure, and bulky Toxapex endgames.
