VGCA Battle Hall: Academy Ace Edition #4 results recap

VGCA Battle Hall: Academy Ace Edition #4 was played on 2026-06-28 as an 87-player online event on Limitless, using Pokemon Champions Regulation Set M-B. Niarval [FR] finished first at 10-1-0, ahead of CloudDino [GB], Gurrasnurra5 [SE], and Zephyr0811 [NL]. The final round match list included clouddino over gurrasnurra5, clouddino over spinarak167, and niarval over jackon17.

Place Player Record Team
1 Niarval [FR] 10-1-0 Delphox, Incineroar, Sinistcha, Maushold, Grimmsnarl, Eternal Flower Floette
2 CloudDino [GB] 8-3-0 Mawile, Farigiraf, Kangaskhan, Torkoal, Vileplume, Sylveon
3 Gurrasnurra5 [SE] 8-2-0 Pelipper, Archaludon, Swampert, Maushold, Sableye, Venusaur
4 Zephyr0811 [NL] 7-3-0 Mawile, Farigiraf, Whimsicott, Garchomp, Basculegion, Charizard

Niarval’s winning team is built around layered board control and two clear setup threats. Delphox with Delphoxite, Blaze, Timid, Protect, Nasty Plot, Psyshock, and Heat Wave gives the team a special attacker that can pressure both slots after finding a safe turn. Eternal Flower Floette with Floettite, Flower Veil, Bold, Protect, Calm Mind, Dazzling Gleam, and Draining Kiss plays a similar long-game role, trading immediate burst for staying power once Calm Mind is established.

The support structure is what makes that plan realistic. Incineroar brings Sitrus Berry, Intimidate, Fake Out, and Parting Shot, giving Niarval repeated ways to slow opposing damage and create positioning turns. Grimmsnarl adds Light Clay, Prankster, Fake Out, Reflect, Scary Face, and Parting Shot, stacking even more tempo and defensive utility. Sinistcha’s Kasib Berry, Hospitality, Rage Powder, Life Dew, Trick Room, and Matcha Gotcha gives the team redirection, recovery, and a speed-mode reset. Maushold rounds that out with Focus Sash, Friend Guard, Protect, Follow Me, Super Fang, and Encore, making it difficult for opponents to ignore either setup line.

Across the rest of the top cut, Mawile and Farigiraf stood out as a paired core. CloudDino and Zephyr0811 both used Mawile with Mawilite, Hyper Cutter, Play Rough, Sucker Punch, and Protect, while both also carried Farigiraf with Armor Tail and Trick Room. CloudDino leaned further into slower pressure with Brave Mawile, Quiet Farigiraf, Torkoal, and Quiet Sylveon, while Zephyr0811 combined Farigiraf with Whimsicott Tailwind and a broader offensive mix.

Weather was also prominent near the top. Gurrasnurra5 used Pelipper with Drizzle alongside Swampert with Swampertite, plus Sableye carrying Rain Dance. CloudDino had Torkoal with Drought and Vileplume with Chlorophyll, while Zephyr0811 included Charizard with Charizardite Y. Focus Sash appeared repeatedly on important enablers, including Niarval’s Maushold, CloudDino’s Vileplume, Gurrasnurra5’s Pelipper, and Zephyr0811’s Whimsicott.

Takeaway for ladder players: this event rewarded teams that could create safe setup turns through Fake Out, redirection, screens, Parting Shot, and flexible speed control.
