VGC Trainer School; champions M/C #5 results recap

VGC Trainer School; champions M/C #5 was a 64-player online event on Limitless, played on 2026-10-18 under Pokemon Champions Regulation Set M-C. FarigiBoy [DE] finished first at 8-2-0, with EwanGa [GB] also ending on 8-2-0 in second. The final round results included FarigiBoy defeating typnull07, Jake45 defeating ayguan, and ayguan defeating tensvgc.

Place Player Record Team
1 FarigiBoy [DE] 8-2-0 Dragonite, Basculegion, Kingambit, Rillaboom, Sneasler, Sylveon
2 EwanGa [GB] 8-2-0 Kommo-o, Delphox, Sinistcha, Kingambit, Incineroar, Sneasler
3 Jake45 [US] 7-2-0 Basculegion ♀, Golisopod, Archaludon, Pelipper, Raichu, Sneasler
4 linnman Kit [US] 6-3-0 Farigiraf, Sneasler, Kingambit, Delphox, Torkoal, Staraptor

FarigiBoy’s winning team combined fast pressure, priority, and multiple ways to control tempo. Dragonite carried Dragoninite with Inner Focus and a Modest set of Dragon Pulse, Heat Wave, Tailwind, and Protect, giving the team a flexible speed-control option that also avoided Fake Out disruption through Inner Focus. Basculegion added immediate offensive pressure with Choice Scarf, Adaptability, Wave Crash, Flip Turn, Aqua Jet, and Last Respects, letting it threaten damage early while retaining a late-game route.

The rest of the team supported that aggressive structure with strong positioning tools. Kingambit used Chople Berry and Defiant with Kowtow Cleave, Sucker Punch, Iron Head, and Protect, providing priority and punishing stat drops. Rillaboom brought Miracle Seed, Grassy Surge, Wood Hammer, Grassy Glide, High Horsepower, and Fake Out, adding terrain-based priority and Fake Out support. Sneasler’s White Herb and Unburden set with Close Combat, Gunk Shot, Rock Slide, and Protect offered another speed-based attacker. Sylveon rounded out the composition with Fairy Feather, Pixilate, Hyper Voice, Quick Attack, Yawn, and Protect, giving FarigiBoy spread damage, priority chip, and sleep pressure.

Across the top teams, Sneasler was the clearest recurring pick. It appeared on each of the top four teams, though with different approaches: FarigiBoy used White Herb and Unburden, EwanGa and linnman Kit used Focus Sash and Poison Touch, and Jake45 used Electric Seed and Unburden. Kingambit was also prominent, appearing on three of the top four teams, with Chople Berry on the champion’s version and Life Orb on both EwanGa’s and linnman Kit’s teams.

Basculegion remained a major offensive presence as well, appearing on FarigiBoy’s winning team and Jake45’s third-place rain-oriented build with Pelipper and Archaludon. Delphox also showed up twice in the top four with Delphoxite, supporting both EwanGa and linnman Kit. The top cut of standings showed a mix of speed control styles: Tailwind from Dragonite and Staraptor, Trick Room from Sinistcha and Farigiraf, and weather structures from Pelipper, Torkoal, and broader top-eight teams using Charizard and Venusaur.

Takeaway for ladder players: prepare seriously for Sneasler and Kingambit cores, but do not assume they all play the same item or speed-control plan.
