Alpensee Tour (Reg M-B) #72 results recap

Alpensee Tour (Reg M-B) #72 was a 43-player online event on Limitless, played under Pokemon Champions Regulation Set M-B on 2026-08-26. M_rada [UA] finished first at 9-1-0, ahead of EmperorAry, Mattpode3 [IT], and trevYah [US]. The final round also included mattpode3 over cactusmax, EmperorAry over jogadorzero, and trevYah over zipvgc.

Place Player Record Team
1 M_rada [UA] 9-1-0 Gengar, Snorlax, Incineroar, Scrafty, Dragonite, Altaria
2 EmperorAry 7-3-0 Eternal Flower Floette, Charizard, Garchomp, Basculegion, Whimsicott, Kingambit
3 Mattpode3 [IT] 7-2-0 Garchomp, Whimsicott, Eternal Flower Floette, Charizard, Kingambit, Basculegion
4 trevYah [US] 6-3-0 Dragapult, Charizard, Toxapex, Incineroar, Venusaur, Garchomp

M_rada’s winning team stood out from the rest of the top cut by leaning into a slower, control-heavy Perish Song structure. Gengar with Gengarite, Cursed Body, Modest, Perish Song, Shadow Ball, Sludge Bomb, and Protect gave the team a direct special attacker that also threatened endgame timers. Altaria added a second Perish Song user while carrying Haban Berry, Cloud Nine, Fire Spin, Roost, and Protect, giving the composition another way to force awkward board states.

The support core was built to buy turns. Incineroar and Scrafty both brought Intimidate and Fake Out, with Incineroar using Sitrus Berry, Parting Shot, Flare Blitz, and Protect, while Scrafty used Focus Sash, Close Combat, Knock Off, and Protect. Snorlax added Leftovers, Thick Fat, Yawn, Encore, Fissure, and Protect, giving M_rada even more disruption and a bulky piece that could punish passive turns. Dragonite rounded out the six as the most direct physical attacker, using Life Orb, Inner Focus, Adamant, Dragon Claw, Low Kick, Extreme Speed, and Protect.

The biggest top-table contrast was between M_rada’s Perish Song control and the repeated offensive shell used by both EmperorAry and Mattpode3. Their teams shared Garchomp, Whimsicott, Eternal Flower Floette, Charizard, Kingambit, and Basculegion, though with some item and ability differences. Both used Charizard with Charizardite Y and Blaze, Garchomp with Sitrus Berry and Rough Skin, and Whimsicott with Focus Sash, Prankster, Tailwind, Encore, Moonblast, and Protect.

Across the top 4, Charizard, Garchomp, and Charizardite Y were especially prominent, each appearing on three teams. Sitrus Berry appeared on every top 4 team, attached to Incineroar for M_rada and trevYah, and to Garchomp for EmperorAry and Mattpode3. Focus Sash was also common, appearing on Scrafty, both Whimsicott sets, and Venusaur. Life Orb showed up on Dragonite, Basculegion, and Dragapult.

Looking at the full top 8, Incineroar remained a major presence with five appearances, while Kingambit appeared four times. Sitrus Berry was used on all eight listed teams, and Focus Sash and Life Orb each appeared on six of them.

Takeaway for ladder players: prepare for Sitrus Berry pivots and fast Tailwind offense, but do not ignore Perish Song control.
