WeAreToast’s winning team combined fast pressure, redirection, priority, and setup denial tools without leaning on a single mode. Froslass carried Froslassite with Cursed Body and a Timid nature, using Blizzard, Shadow Ball, Aurora Veil, and Protect. That gave the team immediate special offense while also offering Aurora Veil as a defensive layer.
The physical core was dense. Sneasler used White Herb with Unburden and Fake Out, Close Combat, Gunk Shot, and Protect, giving the team Fake Out pressure and a way to keep attacking after stat drops. Lycanroc Dusk added Focus Sash, Tough Claws, Rock Slide, Close Combat, Accelerock, and Protect, providing Rock-type spread pressure and priority. Basculegion’s Sitrus Berry Adaptability set with Aqua Jet, Last Respects, Wave Crash, and Protect supplied another priority option alongside strong Water- and Ghost-type damage.
Kingambit was the team’s late-game threat, holding Life Orb with Defiant, Sucker Punch, Kowtow Cleave, Swords Dance, and Protect. Scovillain rounded out the composition with Scovillainite, Moody, Giga Drain, Rage Powder, Overheat, and Protect, giving WeAreToast redirection and a second Mega slot option alongside Froslassite. The result was a team that could pressure immediately with Fake Out and priority, protect key pieces with Rage Powder or Aurora Veil, and still threaten Swords Dance endgames.
Across the top teams, Kingambit was one of the clearest standouts. It appeared on the winning team, the runner-up team, ThreeKFive’s fourth-place team, aiueokakikukeko’s sixth-place team, and rickinch’s eighth-place team, always with Defiant and Sucker Punch. Garchomp was even more common in the top eight, appearing on six teams, with both Garchompite and non-Mega Life Orb or Choice Scarf versions represented.
Charizard also had a defined presence. ThreeKFive, aiueokakikukeko, and LittlePotato13 all used Charizardite Y Charizard with Blaze and the same core attack package of Weather Ball, Heat Wave, and Solar Beam. Focus Sash was another recurring item, showing up on Lycanroc Dusk, Maushold, Kingambit, Chandelure, Whimsicott, and Sneasler across the listed top eight teams. Tailwind support was common as well, appearing on Talonflame, Corviknight, Aerodactyl, Staraptor, and Whimsicott.
Takeaway for ladder players: prepare for Garchomp and Kingambit cores, and make sure your team has a plan for both priority pressure and Tailwind pacing.
