CooperKid’s winning team was built around a clear sand mode. Tyranitar with Tyranitarite, Sand Stream, Dragon Dance, Rock Slide, Knock Off, and Protect provided both weather control and a setup threat. Excadrill paired naturally with it, using Focus Sash, Sand Rush, High Horsepower, Iron Head, Rock Slide, and Protect to pressure opposing teams under sand.
The rest of the composition gave the sand core several ways to keep games stable. Sinistcha carried Kasib Berry with Hospitality, Matcha Gotcha, Rage Powder, Life Dew, and Protect, giving the team redirection and recovery support. Gholdengo used Life Orb with Good as Gold, Make It Rain, Shadow Ball, Nasty Plot, and Protect, giving CooperKid a second major damage angle that did not rely on sand turns. Staraptor brought Staraptite, Intimidate, Tailwind, Brave Bird, Close Combat, and Protect, adding speed control and immediate physical pressure. Milotic rounded out the team with Sitrus Berry, Competitive, Scald, Icy Wind, Recover, and Protect, punishing Intimidate while also contributing speed control and longevity.
Across the top teams, several repeated structures stood out. Archaludon appeared on the teams finishing second, third, and fourth, with noodle_sandwich using White Herb and Sturdy, while Jorge_prods and satorugojofan both used Leftovers and Stamina. Gholdengo showed up on the first- and third-place teams with Life Orb, Good as Gold, Make It Rain, Shadow Ball, Nasty Plot, and Protect.
Rain was also prominent near the top. Jorge_prods and satorugojofan both used Pelipper with Drizzle alongside Swampert with Swampertite, though their Swampert coverage differed slightly between Earthquake and High Horsepower. Both also used Grimmsnarl with Light Clay, Prankster, Reflect, Light Screen, and Parting Shot.
Several offensive staples repeated throughout the top eight. Kingambit appeared on the teams of noodle_sandwich, nintendojay, Rahzar, and CJ__black98. Basculegion with Choice Scarf and Adaptability appeared on the second-, fifth-, and sixth-place teams. Focus Sash was common across very different roles, including Excadrill, Whimsicott, Pelipper, Annihilape, Maushold, Venusaur, and Sneasler.
Takeaway for ladder players: prepare for sand, rain, Archaludon, and Kingambit without assuming every top team uses the same speed-control package.
