VGC UmbreNews 30.06.2026 #21 - Champion was a 39-player online event on Limitless, played in Pokemon Champions Regulation Set M-B on 2026-06-30. The final-round path featured kirtash11 vs jorgeta with jorgeta winning, followed by dug beating jorgeta and then dug beating amoney5 to finish first at 8-1-0.
| Place | Player | Record | Team |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | dug [FR] | 8-1-0 | Charizard, Aerodactyl, Sylveon, Farigiraf, Garchomp, Kingambit |
| 2 | jorgeta [GB] | 6-3-0 | Charizard, Incineroar, Whimsicott, Garchomp, Basculegion, Gholdengo |
| 3 | Ireneh [IT] | 6-2-0 | Charizard, Metagross, Hydreigon, Sylveon, Garchomp, Aerodactyl |
| 4 | Amoney5 [US] | 5-3-0 | Dragonite, Sableye, Archaludon, Pelipper, Sinistcha, Swampert |
dug’s winning team was a clean example of layered speed control and broad offensive pressure. Charizard (Charizardite Y / Blaze / Modest) carried Heat Wave, Weather Ball, Solar Beam, and Protect, giving the team a primary special attacker with strong spread pressure and coverage. Aerodactyl (Aerodactylite / Unnerve / Jolly) added Tailwind alongside Rock Slide, Dual Wingbeat, and Ice Fang, letting dug play fast when needed while still threatening common targets directly.
The rest of the six gave the team multiple ways to avoid being one-dimensional. Sylveon used Fairy Feather and Pixilate with Hyper Voice, Hyper Beam, Quick Attack, and Detect, functioning as another major special damage source. Farigiraf brought Sitrus Berry, Armor Tail, Trick Room, Twin Beam, Grass Knot, and Thunderbolt, giving dug a slower-mode option rather than relying only on Aerodactyl’s Tailwind. Garchomp with Life Orb and Rough Skin provided physical damage through Earthquake, Stomping Tantrum, Dragon Claw, and Protect. Kingambit rounded the team out with Focus Sash, Defiant, Iron Head, Kowtow Cleave, Sucker Punch, and Low Kick, adding priority and late-game threat potential.
Across the top cut, Charizard was the defining repeated pick. It appeared on the teams of dug, jorgeta, Ireneh, NewAdi6, and Kiwu_z, always with Charizardite Y, Blaze, Modest, and the same core of Heat Wave, Weather Ball, Solar Beam, and Protect, though move order varied. Garchomp was just as prominent, appearing on six of the top seven teams, with Life Orb being the most common item among those placements.
The dug/NewAdi6/Kiwu_z structure was especially notable: Charizard, Aerodactyl, Sylveon, Farigiraf, Garchomp, and Kingambit appeared together on all three of those teams. The details varied slightly, such as Farigiraf’s nature and moves, Garchomp’s nature, and Sylveon using Detect or Protect, but the shared core was clear. Aerodactylite Aerodactyl plus Charizardite Y Charizard gave those builds immediate pace, while Farigiraf supplied Trick Room and Kingambit supplied Focus Sash pressure.
Other top teams showed different directions. jorgeta paired Charizard and Garchomp with Incineroar, Whimsicott, Basculegion, and Gholdengo, using Fake Out, Parting Shot, Tailwind, and Choice Scarf Last Respects. Amoney5’s fourth-place team was fully distinct from the Charizard cores, built around Dragonite, Sableye, Archaludon, Pelipper, Sinistcha, and Swampert.
Takeaway for ladder players: prepare for Charizard plus Garchomp cores, but do not ignore teams that combine Tailwind with a Trick Room backup plan.
