Gayangos2001’s winning team was built around a clear sand mode. Tyranitar with Tyranitarite and Sand Stream set the weather while carrying Knock Off, Rock Slide, Low Kick, and Protect, giving the team immediate utility and spread pressure. Excadrill converted that weather into speed control through Sand Rush, using Focus Sash to stay reliable and threaten with High Horsepower, Iron Head, and Rock Slide.

The rest of the composition covered common counterplay rather than simply doubling down on sand. Milotic with Competitive, Sitrus Berry, Icy Wind, and Protect made opposing Intimidate and speed drops harder to use freely. Sinistcha added Hospitality support, Rage Powder, and Colbur Berry, helping the team reposition around targeted pressure. Staraptor brought Intimidate and Tailwind while still threatening damage with Close Combat and Brave Bird. Gholdengo rounded the team out with Good as Gold, Life Orb, Make It Rain, Shadow Ball, and Nasty Plot, giving Gayangos2001 a strong special attacking angle alongside the physical sand core.

Across the top teams, Incineroar remained a major structural pick, appearing on LelloCartello’s, Diego G’s, KST | KAMPFI’s, Benno’s, and Vito’s teams. Kingambit was another repeated endgame threat, showing up on Diego G, mossberg, Benno, and Vito, most often with Defiant and priority through Sucker Punch. Garchomp also appeared repeatedly, including Life Orb on LelloCartello’s team and Choice Scarf on Diego G and KST | KAMPFI.

Weather was a major theme. Gayangos2001 won with Sand Stream Tyranitar and Sand Rush Excadrill, while Charizard with Charizardite Y appeared on LelloCartello, Diego G, and ChickenCraft1027. Diego G paired Charizard with Venusaur and Chlorophyll, and ChickenCraft1027 combined Charizard with Pelipper, Archaludon, Basculegion, and Venusaur. Benno brought Alolan Ninetales with Snow Warning, while the top cut also included Basculegion on mossberg and ChickenCraft1027.

Speed control was similarly widespread. Tailwind appeared on Staraptor, Aerodactyl, Talonflame, and Whimsicott, while Trick Room appeared on Malamar, Gardevoir, Sinistcha, and Farigiraf. Focus Sash was one of the most visible items, used on Excadrill, Kingambit, Sneasler, and Whimsicott across the listed teams.

Takeaway for ladder players: bring a proactive speed plan, but make sure it still functions into Intimidate, weather changes, and redirection.
