Kuroryu’s winning team was a compact balance build with multiple layers of positioning. Sinistcha with Kasib Berry, Hospitality, Rage Powder, Life Dew, Matcha Gotcha, and Protect gave the team both redirection and recovery, letting the stronger setup and pivot pieces stay active longer. Incineroar filled the familiar control role with Intimidate, Fake Out, Parting Shot, and Sitrus Berry, while also threatening damage through Flare Blitz and Throat Chop.
The team’s most important defensive-offensive bridge was Milotic. With Leftovers, Competitive, Coil, Hypnosis, Muddy Water, and Protect, it punished opposing Intimidate while giving Kuroryu a potential long-game win condition. That mattered in a top cut environment where Incineroar, Staraptor, and other Intimidate users were present across the standings.
Raichu added a second Fake Out user and Lightning Rod support, using Raichunite Y with Zap Cannon, Focus Blast, Fake Out, and Protect. Ceruledge contributed a physical setup angle with Colbur Berry, Flash Fire, Bitter Blade, Shadow Sneak, Bulk Up, and Protect. Mawile rounded out the roster with Mawilite, Hyper Cutter, Play Rough, Sucker Punch, Swords Dance, and Protect, giving the team another strong physical attacker that could pressure through priority and setup.
Across the top teams, Sinistcha was one of the clearest trends. It appeared on the first, second, and fourth-place teams, always bringing Hospitality and a support package built around Rage Powder, Protect, and either Life Dew or Trick Room. Milotic also appeared in those same three top-four teams, with Competitive making it a natural answer into the Intimidate-heavy field.
Sand was another major theme. JUNIA [BR] and TFO | Buzz [BR] both used Tyranitar with Tyranitarite and Sand Stream alongside Focus Sash Excadrill with Sand Rush. Their Excadrill sets differed slightly, but both leaned on Iron Head, Rock Slide, and Ground-type coverage. Staraptor with Staraptite and Intimidate also showed up in second and third, while Charizard with Charizardite Y remained relevant through lucardrgs [BR] in third.
Takeaway for ladder players: prepare for Sinistcha and Milotic cores, and do not rely on Intimidate alone to slow physical attackers.
