The final round included ld_067 vs stonestormvgc, nenellp vs slushi2k, and buggahz349 vs wb_vg, with wb_vg taking the win over buggahz349 and finishing first at 10-1-0.

Place Player Record Team
1 Wb_vg [US] 10-1-0 Tyranitar, Grimmsnarl, Sinistcha, Annihilape, Wash Rotom, Scovillain
2 THJester16 [US] 10-1-0 Mawile, Volcarona, Krookodile, Hydreigon, Corviknight, Gengar
3 Carnzy3 [US] 8-2-0 Annihilape, Hisuian Typhlosion, Tyranitar, Sinistcha, Volcarona, Malamar
4 Slushi2k [US] 8-2-0 Golisopod, Tyranitar, Corviknight, Houndstone, Wash Rotom, Sinistcha

Wb_vg’s winning team was built around layered defensive support into setup pressure. Tyranitar with Tyranitarite, Sand Stream, Dragon Dance, Rock Slide, and Knock Off gave the team a central win condition and consistent damage output. Grimmsnarl supplied Reflect and Light Screen with Light Clay and Prankster, while Parting Shot added another way to reduce opposing pressure and position the team’s slower, bulkier pieces.

The support core was especially dense. Sinistcha carried Occa Berry, Hospitality, Rage Powder, Life Dew, and Matcha Gotcha, combining redirection, recovery, and chip. Scovillain added a second redirection option with Rage Powder, plus Leech Seed and Flamethrower, using Scovillainite and Moody. That gave Wb_vg multiple ways to buy turns for Tyranitar and Annihilape.

Annihilape was the other clear setup threat, using Leftovers, Defiant, Bulk Up, Drain Punch, and Rage Fist. With screens, redirection, and recovery support, it could stay on the field and convert damage taken into stronger Rage Fist turns. Wash Rotom rounded the team out with Sitrus Berry, Levitate, Hydro Pump, Volt Switch, and Will-O-Wisp, giving the composition a pivot and a way to pressure physical attackers.

Across the top teams, Tyranitar was one of the defining picks. It appeared on the teams of Wb_vg, Carnzy3, Slushi2k, Snorlaxpikachu1, and Force_India, always with Tyranitarite and Sand Stream. Sinistcha was even more common in the top cut of the standings, appearing on six of the top eight teams, usually with Hospitality, Rage Powder, Matcha Gotcha, and often Trick Room.

The item trends were also clear. Leftovers showed up on key bulky threats such as Annihilape and Corviknight, while Sitrus Berry appeared repeatedly on support and pivot Pokemon including Wash Rotom and Scrafty. Life Orb was used on offensive pieces like Hydreigon, Houndstone, and Dragapult. Redirection from Rage Powder, sand from Sand Stream, and setup moves like Dragon Dance, Bulk Up, Swords Dance, and Nasty Plot were all major themes near the top.

Takeaway: ladder players should be prepared for sand-backed setup teams that use Sinistcha and screen or redirection support to create safe turns.
