ValkrixVGC Pokemon Champions League #02 was a 44-player online event on Limitless using Pokemon Champions Regulation Set M-B. Cleinz won the final round match over skyjordan1, finishing first with an 8-1-0 record.
| Place | Player | Record | Team |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Cleinz | 8-1-0 | Gengar, Archaludon, Politoed, Swampert, Vivillon, Incineroar |
| 2 | SkyJordan1 | 7-2-0 | Whimsicott, Garchomp, Basculegion, Kingambit, Eternal Flower Floette, Charizard |
| 3 | Hester23 | 6-2-0 | Staraptor, Kingambit, Sylveon, Farigiraf, Raichu, Hisuian Arcanine |
| 4 | gaergaeaf | 5-3-0 | Pelipper, Archaludon, Alcremie, Swampert, Charizard, Venusaur |
Cleinz’s winning team combined Drizzle pressure, Perish Song control, redirection, and Intimidate positioning. The central structure was Politoed with Sitrus Berry, Drizzle, Weather Ball, Hypnosis, Perish Song, and Protect alongside Gengar holding Gengarite with Shadow Ball, Sludge Bomb, Perish Song, and Protect. Double Perish Song gave the team a clear endgame plan, while Protect across the entire team supported turn management.
The rain side of the team was reinforced by Archaludon and Swampert. Archaludon used Leftovers with Stamina and a straightforward special set of Electro Shot, Dragon Pulse, Flash Cannon, and Protect. Swampert carried Swampertite with Wave Crash, Earthquake, Ice Punch, and Protect, giving Cleinz a physical attacker that fit naturally next to Politoed’s Drizzle. Vivillon added Focus Sash, Compound Eyes, Hurricane, Sleep Powder, Rage Powder, and Protect, giving the team both disruption and redirection. Incineroar rounded out the six with Passho Berry, Intimidate, Throat Chop, Fake Out, Parting Shot, and Protect, offering the familiar mix of tempo control and defensive cycling.
The runner-up, SkyJordan1, brought a very different look built around Whimsicott speed control, Garchomp, Basculegion, Kingambit, Eternal Flower Floette, and Charizard. Whimsicott’s Focus Sash, Prankster, Tailwind, and Encore appeared again in the wider top cut, while Charizard with Charizardite Y and Solar Power was also present on gaergaeaf’s fourth-place team. That made Charizard one of the clearest repeated high-finishing picks, appearing on the second-, fourth-, fifth-, and seventh-place teams.
Several other patterns stood out across the listed top teams. Kingambit appeared on SkyJordan1, Hester23, TomitoVGC, and jlpala, with Defiant and Kowtow Cleave common to all of those sets. Garchomp appeared on SkyJordan1, TomitoVGC, and jlpala, each with Rough Skin and Earthquake. Farigiraf showed up on Hester23, jlpala, and StormOrigin, always with Armor Tail and Trick Room. Staraptor with Staraptite and Intimidate made top-eight appearances on Hester23, FredoCR12, and StormOrigin.
Items also repeated heavily. Focus Sash was widespread, appearing on Vivillon, Whimsicott, Hisuian Arcanine, Excadrill, Kingambit, and more across the top listings. Sitrus Berry was also common on Politoed, Garchomp, Farigiraf, and Milotic. Life Orb showed up on Basculegion, Pelipper, Garchomp, Gholdengo, and others, reflecting how many teams were willing to trade bulk for immediate damage.
Takeaway for ladder players: prepare for layered speed control, repeated Protect usage, and flexible weather cores rather than only one obvious mode.
