Daredevilzz26’s winning team was built around a clear sand offense core. Tyranitar with Tyranitarite and Sand Stream enabled Excadrill with Focus Sash and Sand Rush, giving the team immediate pressure through Rock Slide, High Horsepower, and Iron Head. Tyranitar also carried Knock Off, Rock Slide, Low Kick, and Protect, making it more than just weather support.
The rest of the roster gave the sand mode several ways to play longer games or change speed control. Sinistcha’s Hospitality, Colbur Berry, Matcha Gotcha, Trick Room, Protect, and Rage Powder offered redirection, recovery support, and a slower mode when needed. Staraptor with Staraptite, Intimidate, Tailwind, Close Combat, Brave Bird, and Protect added a second form of speed control while also checking physical damage with Intimidate. Kommo-o used Leftovers, Soundproof, Clanging Scales, Aura Sphere, Clangorous Soul, and Protect, giving the team a setup attacker that could benefit from redirection. Gholdengo rounded the team out with Life Orb, Good as Gold, Make It Rain, Shadow Ball, Nasty Plot, and Protect, adding a strong special attacking angle that did not rely on sand turns.
Across the top teams, Sinistcha stood out as one of the most important support Pokemon. It appeared on the 1st, 3rd, and 4th place teams, always with Hospitality and Matcha Gotcha, and commonly paired with Rage Powder. The item choices varied: Colbur Berry on the winning team, Occa Berry for KST | KAMPFI, and Kasib Berry for Saifa.
Kingambit was another major trend, appearing on gahelar’s 2nd place team and KST | KAMPFI’s 3rd place team, as well as several lower top-eight teams. The sets consistently leaned on Defiant, Sucker Punch, Kowtow Cleave, and Iron Head or Swords Dance, with items including Life Orb, Chople Berry, Black Glasses, and Chople Berry again on RedVGC’s team.
Focus Sash was also common among fast or utility attackers, including Excadrill, Whimsicott, Sneasler, Lycanroc Dusk, and Basculegion across the listed standings. Intimidate support remained relevant through Staraptor and Incineroar, while Eternal Flower Floette with Floettite appeared on both 3rd and 4th place teams.
Takeaway for ladder players: prepare for layered speed control, because the top teams combined weather, Tailwind, Trick Room, priority, and redirection rather than relying on a single mode.
