gostzin’s winning team was built around multiple high-pressure attackers with enough positioning tools to keep them on the field. Gengar held Gengarite with Cursed Body and a Modest set of Shadow Ball, Sludge Bomb, Protect, and Substitute, giving the team a fast special attacker that can also play around turns with Protect and Substitute. Blastoise added another Gengarite-style centerpiece item slot with Blastoisinite, using Water Spout, Protect, Shell Smash, and Dark Pulse to threaten large damage if it finds room to set up.
The support structure was clear. Sinistcha with Kasib Berry, Hospitality, Bold, Matcha Gotcha, Protect, Rage Powder, and Trick Room gave redirection and speed-control flexibility. Scrafty’s Sitrus Berry, Intimidate, Fake Out, Knock Off, Protect, and Drain Punch gave the team a slower disruption piece that could help open turns for Blastoise, Gengar, or the physical attackers. Hisuian Arcanine and Dragonite rounded out the offense with priority pressure: both carried Extreme Speed, while Hisuian Arcanine also brought Focus Sash, Rock Head, Flare Blitz, and Head Smash, and Dragonite used Life Orb with Inner Focus, Superpower, Protect, and Dragon Claw.
Across the top teams, Sinistcha was the most visible support Pokemon, appearing on the first-, second-, and fourth-place teams. Its sets varied by item and nature, with Kasib Berry on gostzin and NMR | Tom Baldwin, and Colbur Berry on NMR| leoscerni, but Matcha Gotcha, Protect, Rage Powder, and Hospitality were common pieces.
Focus Sash also showed up repeatedly near the top, on Hisuian Arcanine for gostzin, Glimmora for NMR | Tom Baldwin, Hisuian Arcanine for NMR | Turista, and Excadrill for NMR| leoscerni. Sitrus Berry was similarly common, appearing on Scrafty, Incineroar, Farigiraf, and Milotic across the top four. Life Orb was another repeated offensive item, used by Dragonite, Kingambit, and Gholdengo.
Several Pokemon pairs and archetype cues stood out. Raichu with Raichunite Y appeared on both NMR | Tom Baldwin and NMR | Turista. Staraptor with Staraptite appeared on both third and fourth, carrying Close Combat, Brave Bird, Tailwind, and Protect on both teams. NMR| leoscerni used a clear Tyranitar and Excadrill sand core with Tyranitarite, Sand Stream, Sand Rush, and Focus Sash, while NMR | Wilson Gorski also brought Tyranitar and Excadrill in fifth.
Takeaway for ladder players: prioritize teams that combine immediate damage, Fake Out or Rage Powder positioning, and flexible speed control rather than relying on a single mode.
