VGC UmbreNews 18.08.2026 #27 - Champion results

VGC UmbreNews 18.08.2026 #27 - Champion was a 75-player online event on Limitless, played in Pokemon Champions Regulation Set M-B. Dutchum [FR] finished first at 8-1-0, closing the event with final-round wins over droeloe2110 and dadothedodo. Other listed final round results included noah100800 defeating vietman204.

Place Player Record Team
1 Dutchum [FR] 8-1-0 Froslass, Dragonite, Toxapex, Sneasler, Kingambit, Blaziken
2 KimPkm [JP] 7-2-0 Staraptor, Hisuian Arcanine, Kingambit, Raichu, Sylveon, Whimsicott
3 Droeloe2110 [NL] 7-1-0 Staraptor, Whimsicott, Kingambit, Garchomp, Glimmora, Delphox
4 Noah E [US] 6-2-0 Gholdengo, Staraptor, Sinistcha, Milotic, Excadrill, Tyranitar

Dutchum’s winning team combined immediate offensive pressure with several layers of disruption. Froslass carried Froslassite with Cursed Body and a Timid set of Blizzard, Shadow Ball, Aurora Veil, and Protect, giving the team a fast special attacker that could also set Aurora Veil. That support paired well with a roster that wanted room to trade aggressively: Life Orb Dragonite with Inner Focus, Adamant Dragon Claw, Extreme Speed, Low Kick, and Protect; Focus Sash Sneasler with Poison Touch, Close Combat, Poison Jab, Fake Out, and Protect; and Blaziken with Blazikenite, Speed Boost, Close Combat, Flare Blitz, Rock Slide, and Protect.

The more defensive backbone was just as important. Toxapex used Leftovers and Regenerator with Infestation, Toxic, Wide Guard, and Baneful Bunker, giving Dutchum a way to slow games down, punish positioning, and block spread damage with Wide Guard. Kingambit rounded out the team with Black Glasses, Defiant, Kowtow Cleave, Iron Head, Sucker Punch, and Protect, adding strong Dark-type damage and priority. Between Fake Out from Sneasler, Extreme Speed from Dragonite, Sucker Punch from Kingambit, Aurora Veil from Froslass, and Wide Guard from Toxapex, Dutchum’s six had tools to contest both tempo and board control without relying on one single mode.

Across the top standings, Staraptor was the clearest recurring pick. It appeared on the teams ranked second through fifth, as well as seventh and eighth, almost always with Staraptite, Intimidate, Jolly, and some mix of Brave Bird, Close Combat, Tailwind, Roost, and Protect. Kingambit was another major trend, appearing on six of the top eight teams with Defiant and mostly Adamant sets. Its item choice varied: Dutchum and vietman204 used Black Glasses, KimPkm, Lux_01, and enrivgc used Life Orb, while Droeloe2110 chose Chople Berry.

Focus Sash was also common, appearing on Sneasler, Hisuian Arcanine, Glimmora, Excadrill, Salazzle, and Basculegion across the top eight. Fairy Feather Sylveon was present on KimPkm, DadotheDodo, Lux_01, and enrivgc, all with Pixilate, Modest, Hyper Voice, Quick Attack, and Detect. Tailwind remained a major speed-control option, showing up on Staraptor, Whimsicott, Pelipper, and Aerodactyl.

Takeaway for ladder players: prepare for Staraptite Staraptor, Defiant Kingambit, and Focus Sash tempo leads while keeping answers to priority and Wide Guard structures.
