Okarin’s winning team was built around layered speed, weather pressure, and durability. Pelipper supplied Drizzle, Tailwind, Wide Guard, Hurricane, and Weather Ball, giving the team both speed control and a useful defensive option into spread attacks. Charizard with Charizardite Y carried Heat Wave, Solar Beam, Weather Ball, and Protect, while Venusaur used Focus Sash with Chlorophyll and a direct attacking set of Leaf Storm, Earth Power, Sludge Bomb, and Protect.
The rest of the composition gave Okarin multiple ways to play longer games. Archaludon with Leftovers, Stamina, Calm nature, Flash Cannon, Protect, Electro Shot, and Dragon Pulse provided a sturdy special attacker that could sit on the field behind support. Grimmsnarl’s Light Clay set with Prankster, Reflect, Light Screen, Parting Shot, and Spirit Break made that plan even harder to break. Swampert with Swampertite rounded out the team as a physical attacker using Wave Crash, Earthquake, Ice Punch, and Protect.
Across the top teams, Charizard was one of the clearest trends. It appeared on Okarin’s winning team, IlRepe’s runner-up team, Tigershark92’s seventh-place team, and Sleiny’s eighth-place team, each with Charizardite Y. Weather Ball was also common on Charizard sets, appearing on Okarin, IlRepe, and Sleiny’s versions.
Kingambit was another major repeat pick, appearing on IlRepe, Finnick, Gio404, and Ben_ny. Most of those sets used Defiant and Sucker Punch, with Chople Berry showing up on both IlRepe’s and Finnick’s Kingambit. Garchomp also had a strong presence across the top cut of the standings, with IlRepe, Ben_ny, Tigershark92, and Sleiny all using it.
Focus Sash was a frequent item among offensive and support pieces, appearing on Okarin’s Venusaur, IlRepe’s Whimsicott, Zer0n’s Vileplume, Gio404’s Hisuian Arcanine, Ben_ny’s Sneasler, and Tigershark92’s Whimsicott. Sitrus Berry also showed up repeatedly on Pelipper, Garchomp, Farigiraf, Sinistcha, Incineroar, and other support-oriented picks.
Takeaway for ladder players: Okarin’s result shows the value of combining Tailwind, screens, and flexible weather attackers without relying on a single win condition.
