The Drywalls Series #16 results recap

The Drywalls Series #16 was a 56-player online event on Limitless, played in Pokemon Champions Regulation Set M-B on 2026-08-17. The final-round path ended with robin_vgc defeating sooner, gmaddox defeating datguyjimmeh, and gmaddox then beating robin_vgc to take the tournament.

Place Player Record Team
1 Gmaddox [BR] 7-2-0 Staraptor, Garchomp, Whimsicott, Delphox, Glimmora, Kingambit
2 slug [PR] 7-2-0 Froslass, Scovillain, Sneasler, Kingambit, Basculegion, Lycanroc Dusk
3 Robin_VGC 6-2-0 Charizard, Venusaur, Grimmsnarl, Pelipper, Archaludon, Basculegion
4 [VdS] Pedrø [BR] 5-3-0 Basculegion, Garchomp, Scizor, Tyranitar, Sneasler, Corviknight

Gmaddox’s winning team leaned on layered pressure rather than a single obvious mode. Staraptor with Staraptite, Intimidate, Jolly, Protect, Roost, Close Combat, and Brave Bird gave the team an aggressive physical lead that still had Roost for longer games. Delphox with Delphoxite, Magician, Timid, Protect, Psychic, Heat Wave, and Substitute added a second major offensive angle, especially into boards that could not comfortably take spread Heat Wave pressure.

The support structure was just as important. Whimsicott carried Occa Berry, Prankster, Timid, Moonblast, Tailwind, Charm, and Light Screen, giving Gmaddox immediate speed control and ways to reduce incoming damage from both sides. Garchomp used Life Orb with Rough Skin and a Jolly nature, combining Protect, Rock Slide, Earthquake, and Dragon Claw for broad physical coverage. Glimmora’s Focus Sash and Toxic Debris made it a difficult piece to remove cleanly, while Spiky Shield, Sludge Bomb, Earth Power, and Power Gem gave it useful attacks into a wide range of targets. Kingambit rounded the team out with Chople Berry, Defiant, Adamant, Sucker Punch, Low Kick, Iron Head, and Kowtow Cleave, offering priority and a strong deterrent to opposing stat drops.

Across the top teams, Basculegion was one of the clearest trends. It appeared on slug, Robin_VGC, [VdS] Pedrø, [Vds] Cristian, and Sooner, always with Adaptability and usually carrying Wave Crash, Last Respects, and Aqua Jet. Choice Scarf Basculegion showed up on Robin_VGC, [Vds] Cristian, and Sooner, while slug used Mystic Water and [VdS] Pedrø used Sitrus Berry.

Kingambit was similarly common, appearing on Gmaddox, slug, DatGuyJimmeh, Sooner, and KingOfRamen. Defiant was present on each listed Kingambit, with Sucker Punch and Kowtow Cleave appearing repeatedly. Sneasler also had a strong showing on slug, [VdS] Pedrø, DatGuyJimmeh, [Vds] Cristian, and KingOfRamen, frequently paired with Fake Out and Close Combat.

Support trends were also visible. Whimsicott and Corviknight both brought Tailwind in the top four, while Grimmsnarl and Whimsicott contributed Light Screen. Focus Sash appeared on Glimmora, Lycanroc Dusk, Venusaur, Sneasler, and Whimsicott across the listed top eight, showing how often teams valued guaranteed action from key utility or offensive pieces.

Takeaway for ladder players: prepare specifically for Basculegion, Kingambit, and Sneasler while respecting Tailwind and screen support.
