AngryPnuts won with a proactive balance team built around Gardevoir, layered speed control, and multiple forms of priority. Gardevoir carried Gardevoirite with trace and a Modest nature, using Hyper Voice and Psyshock as its main attacks while keeping Protect and Vacuum Wave for positioning and cleanup. Maushold supported that plan directly with Focus Sash, Friend Guard, Follow Me, Super Fang, Protect, and Feint, giving Gardevoir and the physical attackers more room to attack.
The rest of the team kept pressure high. Kingambit used Chople Berry with Defiant and an Adamant nature, combining Kowtow Cleave, Sucker Punch, Low Kick, and Iron Head. Talonflame supplied Gale Wings Tailwind, Quick Guard, and Sharp Beak-boosted Dual Wingbeast, helping the team avoid falling behind against faster compositions. Basculegion added Choice Scarf Adaptability offense with Wave Crash, Aqua Jet, Last Respects, and Flip Turn. Garchomp rounded the roster out as a Life Orb Rough Skin attacker with Earthquake, Rock slide, Dragon Claw, and Protect.
Kingambit was one of the clearest trends near the top. It appeared on the first-, second-, third-, fifth-, and eighth-place teams, most often as a Defiant Adamant attacker with Kowtow Cleave and Sucker Punch. Life Orb Kingambit showed up on Zoom644Z, casper427, and FinnzVGC, while AngryPnuts used Chople Berry and McSchwifty used Black Glasses.
Staraptor also stood out, appearing on Zoom644Z, McSchwifty, and casper427 with Staraptite and Intimidate. Zoom644Z and casper427 brought very similar structures: Raichu with Raichunite Y, Staraptor, Hisuian Arcanine, Farigiraf, Sylveon, and Kingambit. Garchomp also placed in both first and fourth, each time with Life Orb, Rough Skin, Jolly, Earthquake, Dragon Claw, Rock Slide or Rock slide, and Protect.
Takeaway for ladder players: build with clear Kingambit counterplay, because the top cut of this event showed how consistently Defiant priority can anchor Regulation Set M-B teams.
