| Place | Player | Record | Team |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Punihina [MX] | 5-1-0 | Meganium, Garchomp, Aegislash, Talonflame, Sneasler, Tyranitar |
| 2 | Izzywooperstan [US] | 4-2-0 | Charizard, Whimsicott, Basculegion, Mawile, Farigiraf, Garchomp |
| 3 | AstridDaDragon [US] | 4-1-0 | Swampert, Dragalge, Grimmsnarl, Archaludon, Pelipper, Sinistcha |
| 4 | BHelixB [GB] | 3-2-0 | Raichu, Kingambit, Sylveon, Aerodactyl, Basculegion, Sneasler |
Punihina’s winning team was built around flexible pressure rather than a single obvious mode. Meganium held Meganiumite with Leaf Guard and a special set of Solar Beam, Dazzling Gleam, Protect, and Weather Ball, giving the team a spread-resistant special attacker with coverage tied into the event’s visible weather-heavy landscape. Tyranitar, using Tyranitarite and Sand Stream, gave Punihina a second major Mega item user and a sturdy physical Rock Slide attacker with Knock Off, Low Kick, and Protect.
The supporting cast tied the structure together. Talonflame provided Gale Wings Tailwind while still threatening immediate damage through Charcoal-boosted Brave Bird and Flare Blitz. Sneasler added Fake Out pressure, White Herb, Unburden, and fast physical offense through Close Combat and Dire Claw. Garchomp supplied Earthquake, Dragon Claw, Rock Slide, and Protect with Sitrus Berry and Rough Skin, while Aegislash brought Life Orb special damage, King’s Shield, and Wide Guard. That last detail mattered in a top cut full of spread moves such as Rock Slide, Earthquake, Heat Wave, Hyper Voice, and Weather Ball.
Across the top four, speed control was one of the clearest patterns. Punihina had Tailwind on Talonflame, Izzywooperstan had Tailwind on Whimsicott, AstridDaDragon had Tailwind on Pelipper, and BHelixB had Tailwind on Aerodactyl. Fake Out also appeared on Punihina’s Sneasler and BHelixB’s Sneasler, as well as BHelixB’s Raichu.
Item trends were just as clear. Focus Sash appeared on Whimsicott, Pelipper, and Sneasler across places two through four. Life Orb showed up on Aegislash, Garchomp, and Kingambit. Sitrus Berry was used by Garchomp, Farigiraf, and Sinistcha among the top three. Repeated Pokemon were also notable: Garchomp appeared on the first- and second-place teams, Basculegion appeared on the second- and fourth-place teams, and Sneasler appeared on the first- and fourth-place teams.
Takeaway for ladder players: bring real speed control, respect Rock Slide and Earthquake positioning, and do not skip Wide Guard counterplay.
