138mysx’s winning team combined strong immediate pressure with multiple ways to control the pace of a game. Charizard held Charizardite Y and carried Solar Beam, Weather Ball, Heat Wave, and Protect, giving the team a central spread attacker with coverage options. Aerodactyl provided the clearest support layer: Focus Sash, Unnerve, Tailwind, Wide Guard, and Rock Slide let it contribute speed control, protection against spread damage, and flinch pressure.
The rest of the composition backed that up with efficient physical threats and positioning tools. Garchomp used Life Orb with Dragon Claw, Earthquake, Rock Tomb, and Protect, adding both damage and speed interaction through Rock Tomb. Sylveon’s Fairy Feather Pixilate set had Hyper Beam, Hyper Voice, Quick Attack, and Detect, giving 138mysx a Fairy-type damage source with both spread and priority options. Kingambit supplied Black Glasses-boosted Kowtow Cleave and Sucker Punch alongside Iron Head and Protect, while Incineroar added Intimidate, Fake Out, Throat Chop, and Parting Shot with Sitrus Berry. The result was a team that could start fast with Tailwind, disrupt positioning with Fake Out and Parting Shot, and still threaten late-game priority through Sucker Punch and Quick Attack.
The biggest top-cut trend was Garchomp. All of the top four teams used it, with Life Orb appearing on the first three Garchomp sets and Roseli Berry on glitterckvamp’s fourth-place version. Kingambit was also prominent, appearing on three of the top four teams, with Defiant and Sucker Punch on each of those sets. Sneasler and Basculegion both showed up twice in the top four, including together on glitterckvamp’s team, while Afonso Trindade paired them with Whimsicott, Staraptor, Eternal Flower Floette, and Garchomp.
Speed control was another consistent theme. Tailwind appeared on Aerodactyl, Whimsicott, and Dragonite among the top four, while Rock Tomb on 138mysx’s Garchomp and Whimsicott’s Prankster support on the second- and third-place teams gave players additional ways to influence turn order. Focus Sash was also common across key support or lead Pokemon, including Aerodactyl, Whimsicott, and Glimmora.
Takeaway for ladder players: prepare for Garchomp plus priority-heavy endgames, and bring reliable answers to Tailwind teams that can also pivot with Fake Out pressure.
