VGC UmbreNews 04.08.2026 #26 - Champion results recap

VGC UmbreNews 04.08.2026 #26 - Champion was a 61-player online tournament on Limitless using Pokemon Champions Regulation Set M-B. Gurrasnurra5 [SE] finished first at 8-1-0, with the final round also featuring wins for m_rada over zio_gelato and stesyon_201 over gryffindorale.

Place Player Record Team
1 Gurrasnurra5 [SE] 8-1-0 Eternal Flower Floette, Sneasler, Incineroar, Sinistcha, Delphox, Garchomp
2 M_rada [UA] 8-1-0 Gengar, Snorlax, Incineroar, Scrafty, Dragonite, Altaria
3 Stesyon_201 [IT] 6-2-0 Excadrill, Staraptor, Tyranitar, Sinistcha, Milotic, Gholdengo
4 JogadorZero [BR] 5-3-0 Delphox, Whimsicott, Garchomp, Kingambit, Glimmora, Staraptor

Gurrasnurra5’s winning team was built around two Mega-style offensive focal points: Eternal Flower Floette with Floettite and Delphox with Delphoxite. Eternal Flower Floette carried Dazzling Gleam, Draining Kiss, Calm Mind, and Protect, giving the team a Fairy-type setup piece that could pressure both slots while still preserving itself. Delphox added Heat Wave and Psychic coverage, with Nasty Plot and Protect giving it a clear path to become a late-game damage engine.

The supporting cast gave the team several ways to control positioning. Sneasler used Focus Sash with Close Combat, Poison Jab, Fake Out, and Protect, offering immediate disruption and fast physical pressure. Incineroar was the familiar stabilizer with Sitrus Berry, Intimidate, Flare Blitz, Darkest Lariat, Parting Shot, and Fake Out. Sinistcha added Occa Berry, Hospitality, Matcha Gotcha, Rage Powder, Trick Room, and Protect, giving the composition both redirection and an alternate speed mode. Garchomp rounded things out with Choice Scarf and an Adamant set of Dragon Claw, Stomping Tantrum, Earthquake, and Rock Slide, giving Gurrasnurra5 a fast cleaner that could punish common board states.

Across the top cut of the standings, Incineroar remained one of the clearest recurring support picks. It appeared on the first, second, and sixth-place teams, always with Sitrus Berry and Intimidate, and always with Fake Out plus Parting Shot somewhere in the set. Sinistcha also stood out, appearing on the first, third, and sixth-place teams with Hospitality and Rage Powder, reinforcing how valuable redirection and passive recovery were in this event.

Garchomp was another major trend, appearing on the first, fourth, seventh, and eighth-place teams. Its items varied between Choice Scarf and Life Orb, but every listed Garchomp carried Dragon Claw and at least one Ground-type spread or single-target option in Earthquake, Stomping Tantrum, or both. Kingambit also showed strong representation from fourth through eighth, with Defiant, Kowtow Cleave, Sucker Punch, and Iron Head forming the repeated core.

Focus Sash was one of the most common items near the top, used by Sneasler, Scrafty, Excadrill, Glimmora, Pelipper, Hisuian Arcanine, Aerodactyl, and Whimsicott across the top eight. Tailwind was also prominent through Staraptor, Whimsicott, Pelipper, and Aerodactyl, while Trick Room appeared on Gurrasnurra5’s Sinistcha, showing that flexible speed control mattered more than committing to a single mode.

Takeaway for ladder players: build with both positioning tools and multiple speed plans, because the top teams balanced Fake Out, redirection, Tailwind or Trick Room, and immediate damage rather than relying on one linear route.
