LenVGC’s winning team was built around a clear sand mode with Tyranitar, Excadrill, and Staraptor. Tyranitar carried Tyranitarite with Sand Stream, giving the team weather control while also threatening spread pressure with Rock Slide and utility damage through Knock Off and Low Kick. Excadrill used Focus Sash and Sand Rush, pairing naturally with Tyranitar and giving the team fast physical pressure through High Horsepower, Iron Head, and Rock Slide.
Staraptor was the other major enabler. With Staraptite, Intimidate, Jolly, Tailwind, and Protect, it gave LenVGC both positioning and speed control while still threatening damage with Close Combat and Brave Bird. Milotic added an important anti-Intimidate angle through Competitive, with Sitrus Berry supporting its Bold set of Scald, Ice Beam, Icy Wind, and Protect.
The back half of the team gave LenVGC flexibility into different board states. Gholdengo with Life Orb, Good as Gold, Make It Rain, Shadow Ball, Nasty Plot, and Protect offered a strong special attacker that could punish passive turns. Sinistcha rounded things out with Colbur Berry, Hospitality, Matcha Gotcha, Rage Powder, Trick Room, and Protect, giving the team redirection, recovery support, and an alternate speed mode when Tailwind or Sand Rush were not the preferred route.
Across the top teams, weather was one of the clearest themes. LenVGC won with Sand Stream Tyranitar plus Sand Rush Excadrill, XYZDragon brought Drought Torkoal alongside Camerupt, and both MegaUmbreonVGC and Noktuska used Charizard with Charizardite Y. Noktuska also paired Charizard with Pelipper, while Feliciano94 in eighth used the same Charizard and Pelipper combination.
Charizard was a major repeated pick, appearing on MegaUmbreonVGC, Noktuska, rickinch, and Feliciano94, always with Charizardite Y and Blaze. Basculegion also showed up repeatedly in the top eight, including XYZDragon, Noktuska, Raydevy, and BumPalkia, always with Adaptability and Last Respects. Kingambit was another common physical threat, appearing on MegaUmbreonVGC, Raydevy, BumPalkia, and rickinch with Defiant.
Item trends were also consistent. Focus Sash appeared on Excadrill, Basculegion, Kingambit, Lycanroc Dusk, Whimsicott, and Venusaur across the listed teams. Sitrus Berry was common on support or bulky Pokemon such as Milotic, Farigiraf, Pelipper, and Hisuian Arcanine. Life Orb showed up on Gholdengo, Garchomp, and Kommo-o, reinforcing how many teams leaned on immediate offensive pressure.
Takeaway for ladder players: prepare for weather-backed speed control, especially Charizardite Y teams, sand cores, and Adaptability Basculegion endgames.
