SlyAbby’s winning team was built around a very direct physical offense shell with multiple layers of positioning. Staraptor and Gyarados both brought Intimidate, giving the team immediate defensive leverage while still threatening damage through Staraptor’s Close Combat and Brave Bird, and Gyarados’s Waterfall and Crunch. Staraptor also had Roost and Protect, while Gyarados carried Taunt and Protect, so the team was not locked into pure attacking lines.
The support structure was just as important. Talonflame held Focus Sash with Flame Body and used Tailwind, Feather Dance, and Protect alongside Fire Blast, giving SlyAbby speed control and another way to reduce opposing physical pressure.
